Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
Thirty-eight years ago tonight, I was in the third row for this one. When I saw "Elvis in Concert" later that October, I was thrilled to see the special contained footage of the British fans being interviewed outside the coliseum, but was amazed at how different Elvis looked on the TV special as opposed to what I recall him looking like in person. Anyway, I had to give this one a play this afternoon and remind myself how lucky I was all those years ago.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
I like that show Great versions of ''And I Love You So'' ''If You Love Me Let Me Know'' ''My Way'' and ''Unchained Melody'' and elvis seemed to be in good humour and looked quite all right during that show as opposed to the Rapid City performance, he even trows in a ''Rip It Up'' excerpt!ORION wrote:Thirty-eight years ago tonight, I was in the third row for this one. Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
Hot August Night, truly phenomenal show, one of the very best.
1969, Elvis was never consistently better than this again, on the stage, or in the studio.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
Most recently I listened to the 'Return To Vegas' FTD - the earliest known recording from the first Vegas season of course.
The same show on the cd 'Opening Night 1969' was the first unofficial recording I ever purchased and at the time it was amazing - of course now there are so many of the shows from this season released by the official labels, it's almost unbelievable that 'In Person' was the only representation of these 1969 performances for so many years, and that all this stuff was filed away in the vaults or whatever.
Other recent listens coincidentally were disc 1 of 'In Person' from FTD (which rounds out the disc with some of the rarer performances from that season) and disc 3 of Collectors Gold.
Perhaps time to dig out a 1970 show or two.

Among my favourite shows from 1977 are 'Since Cincinnati', 'Unchained Elvis' and 'Adios, The Final Performance'.Ciscoking wrote:Indy was one of the best shows from 1977

Great show, and the Girls were freaking out with excitement. Man Elvis on stage in the early 70's must have been wild to see.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
April 21st 1976, Kansas City
Knocking them dead! Suprising show from '76 from the first moments of See See Rider elvis is on!, I Got A Woman/Amen only runs for about 4 minutes!, Steamroller Blues is a great version! If You Love Me Let Me Know is great too! the oldies medley wasn't even to bad. Heartbreak hotel was great, Polk Salad Annie was rockin! My way was good too, Burning love was rocking, help me was great and off the cuff, How Great Thou Art seriously left my mouth open, it was fantastic!, funny how time slips away was quite good too. Hound dog was trown in for good meassure, short and average. Can't help Falling In Love was incompletely recorded.
Seriously this needs to be released on soundboard!

Coincidentally I heard this show recently, really good. I hope at least there's a better audience record somewhere .Johnny2523 wrote:April 21st 1976, Kansas City

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
This weekend I gave THE THRILL GOES ON a spin. The show is somewhat short and Elvis leaves out showstoppers like SUSPICIOUS MINDS and BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER. He does not spent too much time talking, in fact he behaves the opposite to his previous show. To me this is quite positive, because I don't like him stop and restart every second song or goof around too much. It's a nice, fast-paced show with a good selection of songs.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
I fired up my vinyl copy (quadrophonic mix) of the Aloha concert last night. Loved hearing the quad mix, and found myself listening to side 4 twice.
It's 800 miles from my house to Graceland, but I'm always up for making the trip!
