"It's Christmas time" rises to its all time high at the Billboard 200 chart at #41!!! Maybe next week it shall continue rising, all points to that actually taking place, especially if stock continues to be available at stores and we will have ourselves another top forty album!! And Hits Daily Double did not have it inside its own top 50. I wonder why this happens sometimes...

Jaime,

I have e-mailed Hits daily Double to find out why there is such a large discrepancy.

what artist holds the record for the most charted CHRISTMAS ALBUMS in the BILLBOARD 200 in any given week during the holiday season??

unrelated to the above question and correct me if I`m wrong, but I`m pretty sure Elvis must hold the record for the most album titles in the Billboard 200 at one time following his death??

On this weeks Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, Mannheim Steamroller have 4 and the Trans Siberian Orchestra also have 4. Not sure if Elvis ever had more than four Christmas titles in any one week.

I suspect Michael Jackson holds the record for the most albums on the Billboard Top 200 following his death. However, it must be remembered that Jackson was mainly pop and R & B.

The following posting from the late likethebike may throw some light on the issue:

Re: BILLBOARD TOP 200 LP CHART FOLLOWING NEWS OF HIS DEATH??

Postby likethebike » Thu Mar 01, 2012 3:59 am

"Moody Blue #3, Elvis in Concert #5, Welcome to My World #71 September rechart, Worldwide Gold Award Hits #83, Elvis' Golden Records #63, Elvis' Golden Records Vol. 3 #64, Elvis: A Legendary Performer Vol. 1 #62. That's Billboard pop. Cashbox pop added Aloha From Hawaii #151, Pure Gold #164, How Great Thou Art #156, and Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden #167.

On the Billboard Country Chart Pure Gold hit #5. His Hand in Mine #7, A Legendary Performer Vol. 2 #9, in addition to new chart positions for The Sun Sessions, #16, Today #19, and From Elvis Presley Boulevard #29 as well better positions for many of the LPs listed above including Moody Blue and Elvis in Concert which topped that chart. For the week of 10/29/1977 Elvis had 12 of the Top 30 Billboard Country LPs and two weeks later retained 12 of the Top 32 positions although some titles had shifted.

In total there were seven LPs that were on the Billboard Pop Charts in the weeks following Elvis' death, Another four made the Cashbox listings. And another five made the Billboard C/W chart. Additionally, that winter Elvis' two country LPs made the Billboard Country Chart (Wonderful World of Christmas and the Cashbox pop chart (the 1970 LP).

The quantity probably would have been greater but many of Elvis' lesser known LPs were probably not in stock at enough retailers to gain a chart position and the Camden/by then Pickwick titles, which were widely available, were too low priced to make an imprint on the charts."

"It's Christmas Time" is set to again be in the running to enter the Billboard top 40, for the first time, this week. It is Currently at #36 at Hitsdailydouble. http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi. Incidentally, The Elvis Classic Christmas Album is high up on the iTunes chart album list, at #45.

What I find amazing is that Garth Brooks' latest album is NOT in the hitsdailydouble list. Either it must be an oversight or Walmart didn't request more than 500,000 copies of the 8 disk set, and they're out of stock.

It's kinda amazing that It's Christmas Time is the album doing so well year after year. It's exactly the same tracklisting as the diamond awarded Elvis' Christmas Album from 1970. I wonder how many records Elvis' christmas recordings have actually sold all together. The same songs repacked again and again in different covers and altered tracklisting.

According to Hits Daily Double, "It's Christmas time" racked up an amazing 15,221 copies this current week, and landing at #41 on their HDD Top 50 chart.

http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi

Last week, even when not charting inside the HDD Top 50, it landed at Billboard at precisely #41, its all time high at the BB 200 chart. Let's wait until Thursday to see if HDD has underestimated his tallies this week, as was the case last week, or in fact the underestimation they had is in relation to other artists shown, now, at the HDD chart, below Elvis, as has also been the case in the past, in other words, landing at a higher rank on HDD than at Billboard.

Incredibly, AND I HAVE N0 OTHER WAY Of REACTING, @iTS cHRISTMAS TIME! SPENDS ANOTHER WEEK AT NUMBER 41, AND THAT IS THREE WEEKS IN A ROW. THE PROBABILITY FOR A 1999 RELEASE, WHICH IS NOT BEING PROMOTED, TO STAY AT THAT POSITION THREE WEEKS IN A ROW IS ONE IN A TRILLION. I CAN UNDERSTAND ANY NEW ALBUM STAYING AT THE NUMBER ONE OR TWO POSITION THAT LONG, BUT IN THIS CASE IT LOOKS AS IF BILLBOARD IS STOPPING ELVIS FROM GETTING ANOTHER TOP FORTY ALBUM...LOL. NUMBER 41 THREE WEEKS IN A ROW!! YEAH, RIGHT...
