In Canada, albums are based on shipments and not sales. Bearing this in mind the criteria is:

40,000 for GOLD

80,000 for PLATINUM

800,000 for DIAMOND.

Therefore the 650,000 sales figure for '30 No.1 Hits' in Canada is excellent.

Garyt - Here is a post of mine from a couple of months back. Tis safe to assume that his sales are 2 or 3 hundred thousand above the 2 million mark by now.

And as for Canada; multiply the sales by a factor of 10 and it gives you 6.5 million. The sales for this album haven't hit 5 million in the US yet. The US has 10 times the population of Canada. So it has fared better in Canada than the US.

On the Music Video Sales Chart Elvis had the following entry:

'He Touched Me - The Gospel Music Of Elvis Presley' (Vols. 1 and 2) - 37.

So in the last 18 months Elvis has sold nearly 2 millions albums! In the same time frame Tim McGrew sold 1.5m, Eminem 1.5m, G. Strait 1.3m, Celine Dion 400k, Metallica 800k, Carey 50k. So Elvis has outsold all of these acts who are above him!

Any comments? Am I correct in what I said?

That's interesting. It's an incredible statistic about EP's sales more recently.Cant' argue much with Soundscan. If Elvis is shifting even less than that - say 1m a year- he certainly can overhaul some artists after a few years.

On the US Country Album chart, Merry Christmas... Love Elvis, is at No 48 in its second week. It entered the previous week at No 62.

On the Irish Top 100 Albums chart, The Real Elvis Ultimate Collection, is down two places to No 61 and has now been on the chart for 92 weeks. With any luck, by Christmas this album will have clocked-up 100 weeks on the chart. Does anyone know if any other Elvis album has spent 100 weeks on the Irish charts?
