Well said, jetblack. I just recently bought some Christmas themed items for my brother. Much cheaper now than it will be after Thanksgiving.

The following appeared on the Billboard Catalog Album Charts (w/e 16th June, 2012):

'Elvis: The Very Best Of Love' selling some 1790 copies. Total sales to date: 272,160 copies.

'An Afternoon In The Garden' selling some 1643 copies. Total sales to date: 470,849 copies.

'Heart And Soul' selling some 1419 copies. Total sales to date: 561,499 copies.

'Elvis Rock' (Compilation) selling some 1094 copies. Total sales to date: 169,396 copies.

'Elvis Country' (Compilation) selling some 1032 copies. Total sales to date: 110,843 copies.

'Elvis Inspirational' (Compilation) selling some 1008 copies. Total sales to date: 89,153 copies.

'The Essential Elvis Presley' selling some 1007 copies. Total sales to date: 350,274 copies (minimum). The last Soundscan figure we have for this album at the end of 2010 was 348,357 copies sold. It is a double album and therefore under RIAA rules qualifies for double sales - so for their purposes it has sold 696,714 copies and already been awarded Gold status. However, it must be remembered we have no record of sales since the end of 2010 (until now) so the total should be considerably higher. One that could be in the frame for a Platinum Award in the not too distant future.

'Elvis Christmas' selling some 14 copies. Total sales to date: 599,531 copies.

Thanks Brian!
I know the variations we have over here are doing well also in overall sales!

Re: SoundScan (US) sales-figures

To gallyt, Hi!! The matter of seeling less is happening across the board, vis a vis the catalog artists who are no longer active, that is. In addition to that, irrespective of the lower sales, there's been at least three major artists who paseed away recently, and their albums are selling well, which moves further down the position of Elvis albums, even in the catlog chart. Another reason may be supply, maybe they haven't stuffed racks in the right places, at the right time. Elvis is selling less tha both the Beatles and MJ, but this is according to the data we have, since there are another Elvis 200 albums selling every day, but they haven't charted, at Soundscan, so we don';t know Elvis weekly totals other tan selling 10,000 a week, for the usual 8 or 9 albums whose tallies we know.

Re: SoundScan (US) sales-figures

Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:54 am

Came to think of 10.000 albums a week, in the US, is some half a million a year. We're talking repackaging, rereleasing and so on. Add the same amount worldwide and we're talking a million albums a year world wide. How bad is that thinking about the time Elvis has been gone? Maybe The Beatles, MJ and whoever is selling more, so what?

Re: SoundScan (US) sales-figures

The following appeared on the Billboard Catalog Album Charts (w/e 23rd June, 2012):

'Elvis: The Very Best Of Love' selling some 1855 copies. Total sales to date: 274,015 copies.

'An Afternoon In The Garden' selling some 1541 copies. Total sales to date: 472,390 copies.

'Heart And Soul' selling some 1430 copies. Total sales to date: 562,929 copies.

'The Essential Elvis' selling some 1055 copies. Total sales to date: 411,867 copies. As this is a 2CD album it counts for double sales under RIAA rules and therefore for their purposes has sold 823,734 copies.

This is how four of Elvis’ albums, including Afternoon in the Garden, this this week.
No other info on his iother 200 or so albums currently available can be found by this writer at this point.

ALBUM SOUNDSCAN SALES THIS WEEK.......LAST.......TOTAL

BEST OF LOVE……………………..1855...… 1790…..... 274,015 (Already Gold, remaining from club sales)
AFTERNOON IN THE GARDEN….. 1541…....1643….... 472,390 (en route to Gold)
HEART & SOUL…………………….. 1430…....1419….... 562,420 (already Gold)
ESSENTIAL ELVIS………………...… 1055…..1007…..... 411,867 (en route to Platinum)

As "Essential Elvis" is a double album, it is en route to be up graded to Platinum (500X2, 1 million units). Right now, it needs 40,000 copies or so more, to make it to Platinum. At the rate it is selling, this can be achieved in 40 weeks' time...

And how do you like having beaten me to the punch, Brian? First time, right?(LOL)

Hi Jaime,

First time (LOL).

It always seems the Catalog Charts are the last to come through. I would like Elvis to have more Multi-Platinum albums and in this respect it would be interesting to know which albums are the nearest to achieving that status.

Brian

Re: SoundScan (US) sales-figures

Wed Jun 20, 2012 4:00 am

Hi Brian!! Me too (LOL). In this regard, kindly keep in mind that these Soundscan numbers DO NOT TELL the entire story, as several titles have indeed received their Gold status in spite of their Soundscan numbers being less than 500,000, or have gone Platinum or Multi Platinum without necessarily having those number dovetail with the RIAA requirements for a particular award. For example, Afternoon in the gardem must have PROBABLY already reached the over 500,000 shipped units, as is PROBABLY the case with Christmas Duets and even Christmas Peace. Regarding the later, what;'s the latest figure you have, and is this double album more than the minimum required, in terms of minutes, to qualify for a double album and go gold with sales of 250,000? Now, what is clear is that "Essential" will be soon Platinum. Warmest regards
and incidentally, are you on Facebook?

Brian

So, at 1500 sales a week, the scanned tally (ie sans shipments) of 500 000 sales should be reached in late October 2012.

I would guess that sales, week-by-week, are more likely to go down over time rather than remain at an approximate level (Hence the revised estimates we have seen of when it might go gold).

Elvis: 155.8 million

The following appeared on the Billboard Catalog Album Charts (w/e 7th July, 2012):

'Heart And Soul' selling some 1590 copies. Total sales to date: 566,246 copies.

'Elvis: The Very Best Of Love' selling some 1579 copies. Total sales to date: 277,512 copies.

'The Essential Elvis' selling some 1470 copies. Total sales to date: 451,993 copies. It is a double album and therefore under RIAA rules qualifies for double sales - so for their purposes it has sold 903,986 copies and already been awarded Gold status. Could be in line for a Platinum upgrade - perhaps in August.

'An Afternoon In The Garden' selling some 1356 copies. Total sales to date: 474,368 copies.

'Elvis Country' (Compilation) selling some 1225 copies. Total sales to date: 116,109 copies.

Hi Jaime,

Yes, great news indeed. I check the RIAA website daily for any new additions.

I think our predictions will be pretty much on the button but it would be great if there were some we were not expecting.
