Not quite I think. There are many people/fans who buy the one and other Christmas Album. But if there were only the Christmas Album (1957 for instance), no other release, almost everyone bought it just once. As total ultimately no 17,000.

I would agree Laser- Freak!! :D all those different covers help with sales from the general public...Sony may be unto something

There’s no way of knowing of course, but splitting Elvis catalogue into hundreds of releases diminishes certifications and the respect an album gets.

Sgt Pepper for instance, this album hasn’t been released multiple times with different track order and different covers or split into different albums. That’s why it’s certified above 20million (I think).

Elvis 1957 Christmas album sold every year in sizable quantities. If it had been re-released in 1970 and had the Price point and marketing the Camden Christmas album had I think the 1957 LP would be over 10 million.

There are always new people to buy the album each year, I don’t think the same people are fooled into buying a new Christmas collection each year thinking it has new stuff on it.

Yes, that’s my point a lot do get sold each year and wouldn’t it have been great if they had remastered editions of the 1957 album only to choose from instead of multiple releases with new covers/titles.
The 1971 album too, remastered.

If only these two available certifications would be for these only and higher for these titles than they are currently.

Anyway, don’t want to hijack this topic. Apologies.

...I see what your saying...but not sure if it would play out the way you think?? I actually believe all the different covers help these sales each and every year...and probably contributes to why we have not got a LEGACY EDITION for his two Christmas albums!!

Yes. Each of these Elvis standard albums sells better year after year than ELVIS CHRISTMAS WITH THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA will ever do.

"It's Christmas Time" always seems to be sitting right out of the top 40!!!

Does anyone here happen to know total sales of that album ?

I know it's 3x Platinum, but It must be 4x Platinum by now.
