I work for a company for provide the stock for a well known tv shopping channel and yesterday we took delivery of a number of items for there upcoming Elvis special including some 100 concert tickets from a supposedly cancelled show in May 77 namely Asheville NC May 30th 1977
the COA on the reverse made me laugh because it just quoted a passage from the Larry Geller book that told us what Elvis was donig around this time but how that authenticates the ticket is beyond me
anyway my question is Are these genuine tickets for a scheduled show that was indeed canceled due to ill health which is the guise that they are being sold under or are they completely bogus
my feeling is the later because i can find no mention of this show being scheduled/cancelled on line or in any book i have in fact i think he played Jacksonville Florida that night a show which i believe was cancelled form an earlier 77 tour
any help would be appreciated
thanks

The last four shows of the March / April 1977 tour (Baton Rouge, Mobile, Macon, Jacksonville) were cancelled. These shows were then rescheduled at the end of the late May / June 1977 tour. However, these tickets that you are referring to were printed with the planning being that Elvis was to perform in Ashville on May 30, 1977. If you look at the listing of the planned August, 1977 tour you will notice that Elvis was to perform there on August 26, 1977. So I would think that they pushed back the Asheville show until August due to this scheduling snafu. Of course the August show in Asheville never took place because Elvis died. The tickets for the May, 1977 Asheville show were probably printed and on sale prior to the original cancellation of the late March / early April, 1977 shows.

Correct - he never played the ashville show. I have read somewhere that the show was canceled - but wasn't sure. I have a chance to get one of the tickets from the ashville show and wanted to make sure they are real is all.
Thanks
