Well, she did -- footage taken by CBS outside the building...

And the warmth just radiates...! Nice find, Doc.

Seriously, half the fun of being a fan is to dream and ponder lost finds, go down blind alleyways in the hope that you'll somehow be proven correct.

Some pine for lost Sun sides..and some hope against hope that the lost '77 mansion footage materializes!

Isn't this the full quote;

"In all, the crew ... filmed the superstar at his mansion, Graceland, while the blinds were pulled and he was sleeping"

Ha ha, I hope you're wrong.

It might please some to know that one of the CBS-TV producers, someone who really knows what went on back then, has been contacted.

Funny, if you come up with something that is in disadvantage of the member who started this topic, moderators will delete your post. That's not nice.

Again, i recieved an e-mail from Larry Geller who confirmed that the Poolside Interview never took place.

Hi *** ~

Hope this finds you well. Elvis was not interviewed by the producers, nor anyone else. Another urban myth.

Be well,
Larry

Thanks for takin' care of bizness Doc! Please report back on your findings.

Very intriguing. I wonder if the reporter misinterpreted that the crew was going to tape Vernon at Graceland for an after death addendum to the Special? On the other hand, if the reporter got the facts right and Elvis was actually taped at Graceland, it stands to reason the footage was squelched. My guess would be the former is more likely.

There is still some backstage footage to be seen, Elvis and entourage coming in and out of cars/airplanes and the like, but that's it.

The Lincoln show being filmed is just hogwash.

I've contacted Gary Smith too and he said they didn't film Elvis. He was there when they filmed the footage of Vernon in the office.

Here is an interesting fact, the interview with Vernon happened on the same day the photo of Vernon and Parker was taken for the Our Memories Of Elvis alblum cover!

Perhaps that was Vernon's favorite leisure suit during the period. It doesn't really provide any proof that the interview and photo session occurred on the same day.

You think Parker would of stayed away from Graceland if he knew CBS were going to be there interviewing Vernon! Some how, I don't think so! Wouldn't surprise me to find out that it was Parker who walk past that window whilst Vernon was thanking everyone for the cards and letter, etc

In my email, I said:

Hello Gary. Are you the Gary Smith who worked on the Elvis in Concert CBS special back in 1977? If so, I hope you might be able to clear up a long held rumour. There is talk of the production team filming Elvis at Graceland in the month after the concerts and specifically of there being a poolside interview. I know that some filming was done at Graceland, but none of the footage used features Elvis and I'd always assumed that he wasn't there at the time. If you are the right Gary, could you please confirm whether or not such a poolside interview took place?

The email was opened by his assistant, Mary Jo Mundy-Bruce, who forwarded it to him. In his reply he simply stated that they filmed Vern....

You have the right Gary, and I did film at Graceland with Vernon just after his death. It was used at the end of the special thanking everyone for the wires & flowers. It was not a big crew just me our camera operator, sound man and Vernon.

OK, so he doesn't say they DIDN'T film Elvis. He just comments on the Vernon footage. But if they had filmed Elvis, he'd have mentioned it right?

Parker gave Vernon a note saying "To Vernon from the Colonel. We will carry on together. 1977" That was sure nice of him to do that

Not necessarily. Also note he only mentions the Vernon video tape -- not film -- shot after Elvis died, probably at some point in September. There is no mention of the filming done in June -- or July.

Thank you for taking the time to post it.

As for the photos -- as midnightx says that's not any kind of evidence. In fact, Vernon is wearing a slightly different jacket -- pocket on the right front -- in the shot with Parker.
