The last one I bought, I Got Lucky, had such a good sound that I'm tempted to get more of the releases by Special Products.

At the risk that they will haul me away, yes, I ordered the 8 soundtracks for delivery next Tuesday. Yeah, I know, I'm a sucker, but there is something attractive about getting something two full weeks before the official release date.
The price, less shipping, handling and tax is $5.62 per CD, so that's not bad.

Great, you can be the first to report on these.

MysteryTrain wrote:Yes, I received all 8 of them yesterday, but have only listened to parts of "Viva Las Vegas." The ISRCS on "Viva Las Vegas" are exactly the same as on the Franklin Mint set, so I don't detect any differences in sound. One minor point, the quality of the cover art on "Viva Las Vegas" is inferior to that on the other 7 CDs - it looks seveal generations removed from the way it looked on the EPA.

MysteryTrain wrote:I just listened to G.I. Blues, again it has the same ISRCs as on the Franklin Mint set and no difference in sound quality. What Ernst said is absolutely true, SONY is using the new transfers and they sound great.
Bottom line, buy the new soundtracks with confidence that you will be getting the best sound. If you bought the 36 CD Franklin Mint set, you already have these in the same quality. Still, very glad to see these in the catalogue.

Many here on the board are critical of upgrading Elvis' music whereas I welcome it!!The better it sounds the more I can enjoy it.

Some will say, "Well, the technology they have access to now wasn't available just a few years ago". Bull crap. I don't believe that for one second. I believe it was simply an unwillingness to put in the time, effort, and cost to "get it right" back then.
Also, I think it's just another planned selling gimmick by Sony to get people to repurchase the same music for the sake of "improved sound quality".
