You might consider Gold Records vol. 3 and 4. They came out around the same time as I Got Lucky and also have the new remasters from 2007. I have never heard them sound better.

I'll second that LRay, I actually got them two also! And I was surprised to find how good they sound! And then again I like to have them as they once were! (Strange isn't it?)

Yes, I received all 8 of them yesterday, but have only listened to parts of "Viva Las Vegas." The ISRCS on "Viva Las Vegas" are exactly the same as on the Franklin Mint set, so I don't detect any differences in sound. One minor point, the quality of the cover art on "Viva Las Vegas" is inferior to that on the other 7 CDs - it looks seveal generations removed from the way it looked on the EPA.

I just listened to G.I. Blues, again it has the same ISRCs as on the Franklin Mint set and no difference in sound quality. What Ernst said is absolutely true, SONY is using the new transfers and they sound great.
Bottom line, buy the new soundtracks with confidence that you will be getting the best sound. If you bought the 36 CD Franklin Mint set, you already have these in the same quality. Still, very glad to see these in the catalogue.

Two questions: QVC packs extremely well - no problem (air bags to protect the CD, etc.). The sound is superior to the Double Features and far superior to what was presented on FTD in the case of "Frankie And Johnny." I've only listened to "Viva Las Vegas," "Frankie And Johnny" and "G.I. Blues."
One note: The ISRCs on "Frankie and Johnny" are identical to the ones on the download available a couple years ago; however, the ISRCs on "G.I. Blues" are different than what was on the download (later in sequence). In both cases, they are identical to those on the Franklin Mint set.

I ordered. Even with tax added it is whithin pennies as being the same total price as amazon. I took the cheepest postage so mine will be here around the 27th of this month.

People wonder why remaster and remaster and remaster again, and it's tough to express sometimes why there's always hope for improvement.
Words don't always express this -- I've heard too much unsubstantiated opinion, too much praise of projects that are technically inferior, even obviously so. Even sound samples can be misleading when people don't carefully balance volumes or other factors.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
The previous "definitive" version of Viva Las Vegas was certainly the FTD, and yet it was terribly compromised by compression.
Take a look at the left channel (top line) of the title track ... How could that sound anything but loud, clipped and awful?
Here, finally, is the way it should look, from the new release.
Pretty as a picture I say.
Yes, you have to hear it to believe it, but I do think this gives a pretty graphic indication of why you might want to spring for the results of the latest remastering effort -- at least if you care anything about good sound.

I'm doing more A-B comparisons right now.
I'd say right now that Viva Las Vegas is the winner for most obvious "remastering."
Girl Happy is easily second so far (bye-bye reverb), though my guess is that if you have the recent refreshed FTD, you've got this covered. I didn't buy the revised FTD, so I can't confirm that for myself, but it seems a quite logical deduction.
Roustabout, obviously, was in pretty serious need of a review, as it hasn't had a clean sweep since the DF series. However, a cursory listen shows that some of the old efforts seem to hold up pretty well, compared with the new edition. There are some obvious differences on some tracks, so I'd say Roustabout is certainly worth the price of admission.
It's interesting to see which tracks have improved and which, it seems, may have been brought along about as much as they could be on previous releases.
One thing that really confuses me is how the same team credited for the Girls! Girls! Girls! Thanks elvissessions. You are conferming with measurements what we hear with our ears. Even listening to the QVC video I could tell that things seemed pretty much upgraded. Many here on the board are critical of upgrading Elvis' music whereas I welcome it!!

It seems they are exclusive for amazon.com and QVC.com only?
I mailed the following online stores: deepdiscount.com; cdpacific.com; spun.com; cduniverse.com; tower.com and barnesandnoble.com why these Soundtrack CDs are not available as pre-orders or if they will stock them and have them available on January´the 26th.
The majority replied and told me that they were unaware of any new Elvis releases by Sony except Elvis 75, they were sorry but unable taking orders at the moment.
Isn´t it strange that Sony will sell these only through 2 onlinestores and only in the States?
