Elvis didn't re-record studio masters very often for a second "unique" release, but here a few examples of studio songs he re-recorded in the studio, and in each example listed, both versions were released on records during his lifetime:

Don't Leave Me Now - 2 versions were recorded and released in 1957 (Loving You LP and Jailhouse Rock EP)

Blue Suede Shoes - 1956 version and 1960 G.I. Blues version

Love Letters - 1966 single version and 1970 re-recorded version on album "Love Letters From Elvis"

There are more examples of songs Elvis recorded in the studio during two separate occasions in the studio, but most of these were only released once, and the other versions didn't come out on a record or CD until after his death, such as:

Ask Me - 1963 rejected master and 1964 released single version
Memphis Tennessee - 1963 rejected master and 1964 recording on Elvis For Everyone 1965 LP
When It Rains, It Really Pours - 1955 Sun version and 1957 recording on Elvis For Everyone 1965 LP
You Don't Know Me - Clambake movie version and Sept. 1967 version that was a single B-side
A Whistling Tune - Follow That Dream version and Kid Galahad version that was released in 1962
Swing Down, Sweet Chariot - 1960 His Hand In Mine LP version and 1968 re-record for The Trouble WIth GIrls movie
Some of the studio songs recorded for the 68 Comeback Special - Guitar Man, Trouble, Little Egypt, etc.

There are many more examples, but I can't think of them at this moment.

Would have loved to have heard a version of "Life" from the Jungle Room sessions in 1976.

A few more...

How Do You Think I Feel? - If you count the Sun rehearsal version.

Treat Me Nice - I really like the various tempo versions that were recorded for the movie.

I Beg of You

One Night - a classic in any version,

AIn't That Loving You Baby - faster and slower tempo versions...although each was recorded on the same day if I'm not mistaken.

Shake Rattle and Roll - 1955 radio studio performance and 1956 RCA studio recording

Tiger Man - not too sure about this one, if it was recorded early in his career or not. But it was recorded at the NBC studio for the 68 special and also recorded as a jam during the Today sessions, although not released during his lifetime.

Tonight Is So Right For Love/Tonight's The Night For Love - from GI Blues. Kind of a different song altogether, but I think this was a rewrite to get around some sort of copyright issue in Europe?

Black Star - re-recorded as Flaming Star after the movie's title was changed.

Blue Hawaii, Ku-u-i-po, Hawaiian Wedding Song, No More, Early Morning Rain - not exactly studio versions, but recorded in 1973 with his band with no audience present after the Aloha concert and used in the TV special as well as later being released on Mahalo From Elvis.

Long Legged Girl (with the short dress on) - similar story to Shoppin' Around. Re-recorded at a later date.

And also "That's When Your Heartaches Begin"

Elvis cut this song as a demo record in the summer of 1953, and later re-recorded it on januari 13, 1957.

He did Ask Me on those two sessions as well, although the earlier one wasn't released until 1991.

In regards to "Early Morning Rain", he first recorded it in 1971 but then re-recorded it for the AFH television special. Frankly, I love the AFH version better than the original 1971 version.

He also re-recorded a version on June 19, 1977 for "Elvis In Concert".

"If the songs don't go over, we can do a medley of costumes!" - Elvis Presley (August 10, 1970 backstage in his dressing room before the first show of the August, 10, 1970/September 8, 1970 season in Vegas).

There were also the duet versions of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, which were then rejected for the master. In the interim, Roberta Flack released her version, costing Elvis a possible hit.

Does She Thinks I Still Care count, recorded in 2 very different versions?

Also, weren't there 2 very different versions of Tonights Allright For Love?

Can't think of any more non live songs recorded more than once, other than those already listed.
