My Way : Lyrics inspired from the Bible ?

Sun Oct 12, 2008 5:09 pm

And now ...

Song My way
The End is near
Peter 4:7
The end of all things is near.

Song My way
For what is a man, what has he got, if not himself, then he has not
Luke 9:25
For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

Song My way
And so i face the final curtain
Corinthians
.... final curtain ....

AMEN :smt006

If the song My Way was called His Way I would say that would be a lot closer to being inspired by the Bible, As it stands right now the song lyrics describe a person facing life and the challenges and temptations that are presented, in this life, by do things '"My Way", or the individuals way. Therefore I could not consider it being from the Bible because the whole premise is that one should face all the challenges and temptations of this life the way that Christ would have handled it or His Way.

Like wise we have the same difference between the songs:

She Is My Everything and
He Is My Everything

The first song putting emphasis on a persons significant other and the second song, which is a gospel number, puts life sinificants in God.

Burning Love

The other song with lyrics taken from scripture is "Welcome To My World"

The title of the first song is actually "There Goes My Everything"..............

You are absolutly right the title is indeed There Goes My Everything,, but that does not change. But that still really does not change the point I was trying to make,

He is My Everything is ptting the empasis on God being everything in a persons life.
She is My Everything is putting the emphasis on a Waman being everything in a persons life.

Burning Love

When i started the topic, i thought more of the style of the sentences or the vocabulary.

Interesting that the song was written for Sinatra who was in a great shape in 1968 and his end was not near

But the words She is My Everything don't appear in either song.........................................

My Way has more commonality with Shakespeare than the bible.

It's a great song tremendous lyrics and every drunken karaoke exponent from Bangadesh to Boston knows the words.

Oh to own that copyright.

I just e-mailed Paul Anka and asked him if the lyrics to 'My Way' were inspired by the Bibe. Here's his reply:

"Don't be so f****** stupid."

So there you go. End of stupid topic.
