Just to confuse things, Elvis also recorded this similarly titled song:

Who Are You [Who Am I ?]

It's well sung but my least favourite of all the Memphis recordings, just behind Suspicious Minds (gimme the fast live versions from 69-70 anyday)

I presume he recorded it as a possible easter single but it didn't happen.

It's not a huge favorite from the 1969 American visit, but his voice is just brilliant, as it was on the entire session.

I like this one! Wonder if Ernst forgot it when he put together the Amazing Grace collection back then?

I was very critical of that non decision back then. I still recall how I could hardly believe it was left off that set.

Personally I like the Amazing Grace set better than Peace In The Valley. (Don't know why! 'cause Who Am I? is included). But, I think a revamp of AG should include Who Am I?

A very sincere recording - just about perfect.

A definite mistake to leave it off the Amazing Grace set as I am sure EJ would acknowledge. (and I think has at one point).

The Peace In The Valley set is one of two official releases that I am without.

Am I missing out ?

It was likely left off Amazing Grace due to having been released on the 60's box around that time.

At that particular time they weren't doing that. I would agree that it should have been on the Amazing Grace set with the rest of the Gospel material, but I guess Ernst and Roger felt, when compiling the 60's box, it was better to have all the '69 American tracks available in one place.

At what time? They have always recycled the songs, always, and in this particular way too.
Think back on the laughing version of AYLT for one, for a while there it was on every other release.

During the period of the box sets 92-95. If memory serves, the only repeat is Merry Christmas Baby, which is on both If Every Day Was Like Christmas and the 70's box. It's inclusion on the latter was due to it being one of Elvis' essential blues recordings as well as an essential 70's recording.
