Elvis Presley's Graceland - Through The Years 1957-77

Post by Elvis Australia »

The Memphis Recording Service is hard at work on a high quality, coffee table hardcover book showcasing images of Elvis' beloved Graceland mansion, to be titled, Elvis Presley's Graceland - Through The Years 1957-77. At this time MRS are working toward for a 2008 release, however due to the massive amount of work, research, writing and photos involved it is possible the release may be delayed until early 2009.

This book will include all the photos from the recent 'Inside Graceland' book plus much, much more! This new hardcover book will contain hundreds of pages and many hundreds of rare and/or previously unpublished photographs all from original negatives and transparencies, including visuals of not only the mansion, but Elvis, Linda Thompson, Elvis' cars, the Trophy Room, the bedroom and a lot more. Also included will be the photos of Graceland taken in 1962 by Tony Douglas (in much better quality resolution, restored etc), that were first displayed on the Elvis Presley Music website last year. And as you all know, MRS release quality products, so you can be assured that they will make this release worth your while with the quality you have come to expect and some fantastic photo surprises.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this book. :D

I Just looked at the 62' pictures for the first time. A different time that was, for the Graceland surrounding area. To think, how young the community is for it to be so run down as it is today almost 50 years later. As 50 years really isn't that old really, for a community.
I'm a little surprised, there wasn't more expensive housing originally built, when people realized Elvis' home was there, but then again maybe that was the reason. Still, bad planning on the cities part.

Yes -- this is a great book idea, as we've never had anything substantive before on the subject.

No doubt some contributors will be surprised, too.

Wow those pictures are amazing. I'll be very interested in getting this book. I cant believe how peaceful and rural the scene looks compared to now.
