Clyde McPhatter Says Hello -> August 1970

Yes, it does -- poor Clyde was a bit sad to be losing his hair.

Well that's sure as hell not a toupee on the man in the footage with Elvis.

It seems that, after 8 months of 'searching' Speedoo had the answer [to who it isn't] all along on page one of this very thread.

Ben that is nice to know, but, not really, as there has been doubt on both sides of the fence regardless, what this ex member wrote. So...., keep in mind, what the 2 times ex member wrote, was and is, No great revelation that helped with the thread, it other word's, it meant nothing from a nothing person. Further research had to be done regardless. As it could have gone the other way too.

On another topic, EPE has now gotten back to me through their archive department. They were,.... really of No help. Whom ever replied, did try to help with a suggestion. However, the suggestion they gave, which related to a book, which mentioned a few names of who attended the party, ended No where and sadly they do not have a list of who attended the August 10th 1970 party in their archives.

I think we are somewhat, still at a stand still, I will continue to search as time goes by. If I am able to confirm who that person is, at some point I will update the thread or anyone else can, if they can come up with any new evidence too.

On a side note, I would also like to try and find out who the Elvis guy was, with Charlie Rich as well.

It may well be that , in showing him the picture of the mystery man , Esposito might
remember if he's seen him around either before or after Aug 10 1970 and if before (let's say 1968 or 1969) then it has to be someone else as McPhatter was residing in England.

Well as i have said in a previous post, it sounds like this guy's name is 'Ellis' so surely that is something to go on.

Esposito will still be contacted again. I did try months ago, tho I do not think the message ever really got to him.

I hope no-one minds but I am using this as an excuse to post some photos of Clyde, a great singer.

Not only was Clyde great, he was VERY much an influential figure in the development of rock 'n' roll. This fact may provide insight into the joy I felt at noticing someone meeting Elvis, a McPhatter devotee as early as 1953, who appeared to be Clyde. Your posts have certainly helped to restore some of the excitement a few members here seemed determined to stomp out. Thank you, Kevin.

Over at Elvis world Japan in the celeb section of the pics section they have Clyde Mcphatter logged as this same man seen in the TTWII party that the good Doctor's great topic is about

And i noticed on closer inspection the audio seems to be a patch up job,noy knocking it ,i am just mentioning it

Anyone got the original untouched audio i think it was found on a recent TTWII release

Surely if this is Clyde Mcphatter then surely his name would be heard being mentioned somewhere in some audio,Elvis would also know Clyde from the Drifters etc so it's 100% obvious Clyde Mcphatter name would be mentioned somewhere

but then surely Rick Schmidlin would have used audio that matched perfectly 100% all the way through instead of this (Brilliantly done) patch up that seems correct at times - maybe it just isnt complete

Hello Elvis fans,

I discovered this thread last night and wanted to comment on this very interesting topic. I am an Elvis fan, but I have never described myself as a die-hard Elvis fan. If this topic were about Elvis, I would not feel I had a place to add my “two cents.” However, this thread is not about Elvis Presley; it’s about the man in the picture/video with Elvis. I am proud to say that I am a die-hard Clyde McPhatter fan. And I am absolutely positive that that is NOT Clyde McPhatter in the pictures/video with Elvis. The look is totally not Clyde and the voice doesn’t sound like his either. If I am wrong about that, then I think that would be one of the greatest shocks of my life.

I didn’t post JUST to say “that’s not Clyde McPhatter in the picture.” I also need to comment on Chris Black speaking with someone named “Lee Rackley.” Well, Clyde’s widow Lena Rackley McPhatter-Gore passed away in 1998. I’m not accusing Chris of being misleading or anything like that. I’m all about the facts and the truth, but obviously, whoever Chris spoke with was not Clyde's widow.

I have no idea who that is in the picture, though I am just as curious as anyone at this point. I did not post here to cause an argument, and I hope I didn’t offend anyone.

About Elvis, probably. About modesty, discretion or the price of a "1-20v Slim Bench Power Supply with LCD Screen" in the new Maplins catalogue, probably not.
