Not sure how rare this one is. Possibly more so outside of the USA; This is a promotional flexi disc;

Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
When is a rare Elvis record not actually an Elvis record? When it is something like this.
Here is a disc that came in a Harry Belafonte 10 disc set (RCA Victor SPD-24). This particular disc (as apparently with other discs from this set from research I have done) got a label from another artist/ disc.
In this case the label applied was from the original release of Elvis' "PEACE IN THE VALLEY" extended play (EPA-4054). It is unknown whether this came packaged as the Elvis release of in the Belafonte set. The actual disc features Belafonte. Just the label is Elvis so I can only believe it was in the Harry Belafonte set.
If anyone would be interested in adding this disc to their collection pm me and we will work out a deal if possible.
Here are pics of the disc,

As nobody has posted anything here for quite a while, I thought I would try and start the ball rolling again with this rare UK demo single;

Does anyone have any further information about the Armed Forces 16" LP pressing?
I found this for sale on a music website. VERY expensive, but I can't see it listed in the recent "Presleyana VII" book. It is said to be from 1956 and contains several Elvis tracks, including "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", "Money Honey", "Shake rattle and roll" and "Blue suede shoes".

Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
Tony- these discs were produced to be aired on Armed Forces Radio for the U.S. Military as radio programs. The 16" are pretty rare and eventually these would be pressed as 12" LP versions. I believe also some 45 rpm discs were available- not certain about that though.
There are also box sets available as radio programs hosted by Roger Carrol for the U.S. Air Force I believe. These are similar to the box LP sets featuring the Casey Kasem American Top 40 radio shows. I have a couple of those (AT40) featuring Elvis cuts- as well as the Roger Carrol discs sets.
The 16" are quite rare though. These played at very slow speed around 16 2/3 RPM. This format was also pretty common at one time for discs that played music over the speaker system in retail stores.
Nice item!

Thanks for the info 'Grey'. I did already know the purpose of these pressings, but wondered if anyone knew about the particular one I pictured as this pressing doesn't seem to be in "Presleyana" so wondered if this item is extra rare??

Thanks for that. I wonder why this particular 16" record was not listed in the latest "Presleyana" book then? Just an oversight I guess. I always wished for a 16 incher!elvisrecords.us wrote:Although no prices are discussed here, this record is mentioned.

Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
Here is the latest addition to my Elvis vinyl 'family'. I found this purely by mistake whilst searching through hundreds of "Love me tender" vinyl listings on a US record site!! And the price was so low I'm guessing the seller did not know what he had, so I'm happy (that's twice I've been happy this year!!) LOL

Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
Just spent ages trying to find the above "Love me tender" promo EP in the latest "Presleyana" book, but couldn't find it. Eventually I found it listed under it's catalogue / release number, DJ-7.

Normally I only upload pics of records that I actually own, but here's a pic I found online from a record website of a Danish 78. VERY TASTY!!

Sorry Tony,
this 78rpm record is from Norway.

Oh, thanks for the information. The listing of this record was wrong on the website then. In general, is it true that Norway had very few independent pressings on Elvis?Mississippi wrote:Sorry Tony,

Tony.................. Just noticed on your 'Elvis in Memphis' ............. "IT HEEPS RIGHT ON A HURTING"
We call it 'Lying'..... Advertisers and politicians call it 'Creative Thinking'; So what is this teaching our kids, and grandkids?

A beauty for both Elvis AND Bowie collectors!!! Bought from a USA music website at a VERY good price! (For estimated value, check the latest "Presleyana" book! It's under 'R': RCA in-store sampler...)

A rare in-store RCA Golden Grooves sampler LP featuring 6 Elvis tracks and other RCA artists. This has spoken links / introductions by the late DJ Roger Scott;

WOOOO-WEEE. Another gem. This time a rare Spanish white label promo LP from 1972;

Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
I noticed something a bit odd about the above LP; on the label it says published 1972, but the reverse of the sleeve features an advert for Elvis' "Promised Land" album, so it must be a 1975 release!
Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
I'm trying to keep this topic going, but you guys are forgetting to post more of your beauties!!! So here's a couple more 78rpm babies from the vaults of Tony..
I never knew this song had been used on an A side.....until I saw this South African record languishing all on it's own at a record fair, crying out "take me home"!!!! Anyone wanna guess what's on the other side?
This is a 2 sided UK demo 78. If you don't know what's on the other side of this then I despair!!

Does anyone know if this Spanish EP "Crying in the chapel" is especially rare? I've just seen a copy of it online;
This is the rear of the sleeve; the front is the usual "Girl Happy" pic with red background. Thanks for any information forthcoming.You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
