Looks like it's been written with a pen - if so, is there a way to get rid of it with an ink eraser?Tony.. wrote:I know, but finding another one of these is difficult.luckyjackson1 wrote:Whoa! Almost 54,000 views...

I havn't tried yet. The writing, however, is not too obtrusive and quite small.luckyjackson1 wrote:Looks like it's been written with a pen - if so, is there a way to get rid of it with an ink eraser?Tony.. wrote:I know, but finding another one of these is difficult.luckyjackson1 wrote:Whoa! Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
Now I know what that writing means - on the right at the Billy Vaughn tracks somebody wrote "instr." (with a pencil?) and at the Elvis tracks it says "ges.", which obviously stands for "gesungen" (sung / vocal). Dunno if this information is any helpful though.
If you try to erase it, do it carefully. Hope it works out.
A great weekend to y'all!

I don't know if this has been posted before, nor how rare it is. It's an album pressed in Iceland. Unfortunately in bad condition. Anybody know anything about it?

I have seen that cover lots os times before. I think it was pressed in the mid 80's and I don't think it's that rare. You should be able to obtain a better condition copy I would think.adiels wrote:I don't know if this has been posted before, nor how rare it is. It's an album pressed in Iceland. I found this recently by chance. I thought it might be a bootleg, but it is not mentioned in the "Bootleg Elvis" book. It is one sided. Does anyone have any information on this record please?!?

Maybe it contains one of the long lost versions Elvis tried on January/February 1958 at Radio Recorders, Hollywood . Bye for now .Tony.. wrote:I found this recently by chance. Unfortunately not. I played it and it is the same take. If it is not a bootleg, I wonder why the Speciality label would have pressed this one-sided single????Mike Windgren wrote:Hi there!! -

Thanks 'REBL'. I like your one too. I assumed it could be a boot, but it is nowher to be found in the excellent "Bootleg Elvis" book. Maybe this one could have slipped the net?

Re: Do you have a rare Elvis record? Show it to us, please!
Specialty made test pressings for various record labels, so this probably would have been used to check the sound quality, etc. of a mastering before manufacturing commercial copies. If legitimate, my guess is that this test pressing is for a later pressing of the 45.Tony.. wrote:Unfortunately not. I played it and it is the same take. Here is a link to 45cat which lists Specialty Records Corporation seperately from Specialty Records (Little Richard)

Fantastic! Keep them coming! I never dreamed of this when I started this thread a couple of years ago!

This is a very intriguing record.Tony.. wrote:I found this recently by chance. I thought it might be a bootleg, but it is not mentioned in the "Bootleg Elvis" book. It is one sided. Does anyone have any information on this record please?!?
I've done some search, and this Specialty label (Olyphant, Pennsylvania) has no connection at all to the well-known Specialty label (Los Angeles, California), as REBL pointed out.
I've found the following link, where they clearly state "Manufacturer / pressing plant. This is NOT a Record Label!". Also, they list many records pressed by them (not the one by Elvis, unfortunately), and in the history section they seem to mix-up their info with the history of the LA Specialty label, as they say it was founded in 1946 (unless both labels were founded the same year !) :
http://www.discogs.com/label/Specialty%20Records%20Corporation
Anyway, there's a telling thing, and is the presence of a zip code in the address of the company shown in the label. According to Wikipedia, zip codes were first used in 1963, so this would give us some indications, too.
It would be interesting to learn more about the origins of this record. It's anyone's guess why "My Wish Came True", a relatively lesser known late 50s Elvis cut, should have to be pressed after 1963 on a record like this.
