Sarkozy as French Elvis.

#468685

Post by Little Darlin »

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - It's "Love me tender" between the United States and France after President George W. Bush compared French President Nicolas Sarkozy with rock'n'roll singer Elvis Presley.

Bush told NATO leaders at a Bucharest summit on Thursday that when Sarkozy visited the United States recently, he was seen as "the latest incarnation of Elvis".

Such an example of "Burning love" marks a sea change from the "Suspicious minds" that clouded Franco-American relations under Sarkozy's predecessor, Jacques Chirac, who often seemed to see Washington as "The devil in disguise".

Bush has made clear the diminutive French leader, who recently married another singer, Carla Bruni, is now his "Good luck charm" and "My little friend".

Sarkozy has shown he is "All shook up" by heaping praise on Bush as the first U.S. leader to understand the need for a strong European defense.

I saw Elvis live in concert the year before he died. Even then, he was bigger than life, and had amazing charisma. Haven't seen anything like it since, ....until Adam.........Nocturnal 2010

I have (or had) a good friend in France and she as much as said the same thing about the guy, not being well liked. Said they weren't happy with his new wife either or the things she's come out and said in the press.
Bummer she doesn't talk to me anymore (the friend, not the new wife), i would've liked to send her this.

Bush is a moron and that's putting it politely. I wish this idiot (actually slightly dumber than a moron) would quit associating himself (and others) with Elvis. His dad did not like Elvis. I don't know about the Village idiot himself, child-moron of the father; even fools like Elvis (and why not?).

oh, really?

"Thank you very much. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the big, freaky International Hotel. Those little weirdo dolls on the walls. And those little funky angels on the ceiling. Uh, this is my first live appearance in 9 years. H-uhh! Thank you. I've appeared dead a few times, but this is my first live appearance. Before the evening is up, I will have made a complete and total fool of myself, and I hope you get a kick out of watching it." --EP

Madame

Just because you meet someone at a public event or a private party for that matter, does not mean you like him or her.

Vous Comprenez ? :D

instead of insulting him you could at least be grateful to him for his speech in front of the US congress during which he talked about his love for elvis and some of America's values
I'm proud of a president who dare to claim his love for America and some of its stars like elvis. It's not that easy in France !
But maybe you prefer the anti american politicians of the communist and socialist party ???
These are the real son of b. !
vive sarko ! vive la France !

If you're a French then you know he is not much loved by more and more people.....
If you're not then you should know his "demontrations of love" for usa etc etc... are purely political.
Elvis (and usa) is loved much more than you think in our country.
I do love Elvis (not hard to guess) and usa. We have nothing against you people! Our last president was against the american politic concerning the war (but in usa there is many people too) and then a feeling that all French were anti usa was born but it's not true!
Well too much off topic sorry.

Johnny Halliday IS the Elvis French if you can compare : both big music stars in their own country and is a friend of our president (he was the mayor a few years ago that married Johnny with the beautiful Laeticia)

Cor-rect!

Bush made some disparaging remarks about Elvis during his 1992 re-election campaign. Guess that was a bad move.
