Re: FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
I would like to know also what tapes were used for lost performances video ?
are these from the multi track recordings ? can we expect pretty much the same quality as these were pretty good
It's interesting to note also with the hampton roads footage on lost Performances that only 5 camera's were mixed together which leaves about 6 angles they didn't look at for the editing or maybe they didn't have access to all the footage which means a total re edit would look amazing
i think there is 2 other camera's on the left of stage and the other 4 would be 1 in the crowd which leaves 3 another 1 down the front of stage the other 2 maybe back stage i know there was one on a tripod behind the stage which would look amazing using that when he walks out up them stairs watching the flush bulbs go nuts
oh well hopefully 1 day who ever gets to go on the project re edits the show really well so it blows us away

Re: FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
If and when Hampton Roads is officially released, it will most likely be part of a mainstream release. It is one of the last great live shows in the vaults on multitrack - hard to imagine that it makes its debut on FTD....

The Hampton Roads Concert by TriangleThomas wrote:PLEASE, not this show again!!!OnTourCam wrote:FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
It would be an absolute mistake for anyone releasing this show again. It's been more than covered by various CD's (per example "The Hampton Roads Concert" by Audionics which is probably the best sounding Import there ever was).

Re: FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
Regardless of any On Tour DVD to surface, I would love to have the other concerts recordings made during the tour.
The Close Up concert sure sounds good. The other could well fit in the FTD routing! That said, I'd love to have an upgrade of the MSG shows also. All in one lot!

The concert on CLOSE UP is fantastic!
The moment we're living is now, now now now now now ...
Re: FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
Yes it would - because 75% of the target audience already own that show on multiple, very fresh sounding CD's.Matthew wrote:Sure - it would be a terrible mistake for Sony/BMG/FTD to release this show in fresh multitrack complete quality for all fans to enjoy.
After the recent scare of copyright problems and diminishing sales, such a release would probably bury the live concert releases for good.
Re: FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
75% huh? I had no idea. And you think releasing the complete concert mixed and mastered from the original multitrack source would bury live concert releases for good? These sure are troubling times.Thomas wrote:Yes it would - because 75% of the target audience already own that show on multiple, very fresh sounding CD's.Matthew wrote:Sure - it would be a terrible mistake for Sony/BMG/FTD to release this show in fresh multitrack complete quality for all fans to enjoy.

Still, I'll play the odds and stay pro an official release of this show, something tells me it will be a best seller for sure. I even think you might change your tune too.
Re: FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
I might - but not now.Matthew wrote:Thomas wrote:I even think you might change your tune too.
What I think FTD should do now is release either an extraordinary or very rare show in full lenght. Unreleased, of course.
Why not a Tahoe show from 1976 - they were long and Elvis talked a lot. Or a show from April 1976, Tour 20. As far as I know there hasn't been a single beep released from this engagment.

Why not? There is nothing better than a meandering show full of Elvis drug-induced dialogue.Rob wrote:Not my kind of show, but whatever floats your boat.Thomas wrote:Why not a Tahoe show from 1976 - they were long and Elvis talked a lot.

You forget RCA also has Omaha and Rapid City, June 19 and 21, 1977. There are many here who would leap through a fire pit to get those on an official CD or DVD.midnightx wrote:If and when Hampton Roads is officially released, it will most likely be part of a mainstream release. Re: FTD to release Hampton roads 1972 show
Yes, you are correct. Those are probably the two best shows still in the vaults - fortunately some overdubbed versions are available on the EIC soundtrack album along with some insightful fan comments. Okay Lew, time for you to drop into this thread....drjohncarpenter wrote:You forget RCA also has Omaha and Rapid City, June 19 and 21, 1977.
