I go back to before CD's...I got cassette recordings of Burbank Sessions 1 & 2, The Legend Lives On and Hillbilly Cat Live LPs. I loved Burbank and Legend, but something special about this fairly poor audience recording really drew me to it...it felt like a secret, hearing unofficially recorded Elvis for the first time...and it was a killer show to boot (no pun intended)!

The first bootleg I heard was "Behind Closed Doors". I was 9 or 10 and was given cassettes of this LP box set - I literally could not believe my ears!
From then on I was hooked!

The Hollywood sessions.
ALL outtakes. I think it was on the flashback label, and it was the first ever boot cd!

An original pressing of the Fort Baxter release "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" from the UK fanclub. As the time I had never heard of a soundboard and had only heard pro-recorded Elvis material. Needless to say I was very disappointed at the time with the sound quality and had it returned. Only later did I come to appreciate soundboard material.

Leicester Fan Club convention, May 1981. I was 14. A white van pulled up outside while we were waiting to go in, and there were such vinyl delights in there! I bagged this for £9. Just after I handed my cash over, the van sped away.
To this day it's one of my favourite albums, and I've even bought another, still sealed, for my collection.

Rocking With Elvis April Fools Day lp........didn't know (when I picked it up) that it was an audience recording, but enjoyed it regardless.
Was so different hearing a show un-edited and from a fans vantage point (aud).....

My first "import" CD was Flashback's Hot And Tight in 1989:
Not a bad way to enter the "import" digital world, eh?

I've bought it in late 2005. Not counting the impugnable sound quality,it's a great release and this is my favorite show from that may/june '75 tour.

The first bootleg CD's I got were also the first available, Flashback's excellent 'Holywood Sessions' and 'Hot and Tight' and on the Bulldog label, 'The Ed Sullivan Shows' (not a real bootleg) and, taped from LP, 'In My Way' Wild In The Country sessions .... ahhh, those were the (CD) days ...

Re: 1st bootleg cd you bought/got!?.
Cool post.
My first boot CD was "From Sunset Blvd To Paradise Road". I remember reading up about these intruiging import CDs on the net when I was at school and wondering where on earth one could find them...it was like a treasure hunt!
Anyway, with a supplier duly located, I went there with a friend when we broke up early for the Christmas holidays, paid for the disc (respected dealer and all that, wasn't going anywhere etc) and it arrived a few days later. BTW, that same day I bought the gold and silver boxsets for about thirty squid each at the big HMV in Oxford Street.
It wasn't until a few years later that I realised the bugger had screwed me and what I proudly considered to be my first bootleg was, in actual fact, a good looking CDr copy. When you compare it with an original, the difference is obvious but, hey, I was only 17 at the time!
