THE BEST ELVIS PRESLEY CD RELEASES OF 2007.
My three choices would be:
ELVIS AT THE MOVIES 2-CD
LIVE IN L.A [FTD BOOK & CD]
ELVIS VIVA LAS VEGAS 2-CD
Elvis At The Movies was a very underrated release with great sound and many fantastic tunes.
The DSD sound really made these movie tunes sparkle and it was nice to hear "Frankfort Special"
a song I didn't pay much attention to before,it stands out.
CD 2 was my favorite with 'Little Egypt", "Do The Clam" [yes, you can singalong to this tune!]
and "Let Yourself Go" plus classics "A Little Less Conversation" "Rubberneckin"and Clean Up Your Own Backyard. This CD is absolutely superb!
LIVE IN L.A has become an all-time favorite although it has got slated by some- this concert is as solid as a rock with many fine performances and you can hear why David Stanley mentioned the concert as one of the very best he ever saw Elvis perform. However, the bass heavy sound doesn't do it real justice -but crank up the treble a touch and transport yourself back to 74' and you would have witnessed one rocking show at the L.A FORUM. .A rocking "Hound Dog","Love Me' [with reprise] "Polk Salad Annie" featuring a great bluesy vocal. And a total masterclass in blues,'Steamroller Blues."
This juggernaut of a performance is the best version of the song released to date. The king's phrasing is impeccably and you really do believe he is a napalm bomb guaranteed to blow you mind. Flawless from the King!
In addition, the photos from the book and the fact that the mighty Led Zeppelin were in the audience [name checked by Elvis]really enhance the release and add to the appeal.Fantastic!
Robert Plant met Elvis backstage and said he was one of the coolest guys he has ever met "he just glided past chairs and tables as if they weren't even there, in a room full of second hand Anne Margret's" ["nothing wrong with second hand Ann Margret's." Said Plant.]
Finally, the fantastic CD VIVA LAS VEGAS has just got to be bought be every Elvis fan- because of the great unreleased 1969 concert in which Elvis is on top form, plus the sound is
amazing! Stand out tunes - All of them!

i think the best release of the year is(i think this may have been the back end of 2006 but i got it in 2007) Let It Be Me on the Audiophile label, the sound was great on this audience recording and the artwork is the best i have seen.

Raised On Rock for me too.
There were some gems on Sing All Kinds for sure, but as a cohesive album it did not quite work for me !!

Re: THE BEST ELVIS PRESLEY CD RELEASES OF 2007.
Raised On Rock was quality release, one of the year's best.
The best released performance was the 1969 show released as a bonus disc with the Viva Las Vegas package. But in terms of a release, the first disc was unnessary for many long-time fans, so it is hard to rank it as the best actual release.
Live In LA was a pretty cool package as well. The accompanying CD wasn't any sort of a revelation, but in general, the FTD book/cd releases are nicely done.
But the best release of the year has to go to FTD's American Trilogy. Fantastic performances in solid sound from a strong era. It is nice to finally have a released dedicated to the February 72 multi-tracks.

I saw Elvis live in concert the year before he died. Even then, he was bigger than life, and had amazing charisma. Haven't seen anything like it since, ....until Adam.........Nocturnal 2010

Far and away, Raised On Rock. I've listened over and over again.
That outtake of I Miss You, with the "12 signs of the Zodiac, 12 months of the year" dialogue was a window into his soul.
