Elvis did a few other complete versions: in Las Vegas 1975 (Dec 2 OS and Dec 7), in 1976 (Memphis, July 5) and, IIRC, most of the last tour of the year, Dec 28-31. There's one from May 3, 1977 in Saginaw, too. They all should run about the same length.

Seems like standard operating procedure with EMR was for Elvis to do a quick vocal over John Wilkinson's guitar feature. On a few nights, Elvis was inspired to take it further.

If I rate it highly, will I become important?

Anyhow, I thought "import release" was short for "important release".

For me..1975 is one of the best years of our man regarding live shows. And Las Vegas December is included...
..
...oh yes along with 1970 and 1973...

Thanks to Ernst Joergensen, Roger Semon and Erik Rasmussen for the great work. Keep the spirit alive !

the longest live performance, The Las Vegas Years Vol 2--Early Morning Rain.
thank you i have these two versions and the one on the import: The Las Vegas Years Vol 2 - Early Morning Rain is a great version and one of the best i heard live.
1976 (Memphis, July 5) and most of the last tour of the year, Dec 28-31(27th Dec-1st Jan DOC  ).
i have the Memphis concert but haven't listened in a while, i will give it a listen. the December tour is one of the best and i have all the shows from that tour but the 27th show you cant tell if its Elvis singing or Homer Simpson and the 30th is incomplete, i wish there was a complete version.
May 3, 1977 in Saginaw
is that the show where he starts with That's All Right and sings a bit of Trouble?? a great concerts.
and of course we have the live recording made in January 73.
i always thought Elvis sounded like he'd just woke up when he performed the songs that were inserted into the American Aloha, it fits the mood of EMR though i think.

i think '75 was one of the greatest live years for EP as well, apart from the April tour i love the shows(don't know why i aren't too interested in the April tour, I'm also not that interested in the June tour) i love the July tour(its my favorite tour) and the August Vegas season.

That July tour is something else - great.

Seems that Elvis burned himself out though as the August Vegas stint is cut woefully short, and Elvis does nothing until December !!

My favourite of this is the version on "Burning in Birmingham" (29th December) when he says "one more verse" you can just tell he's completely into it and enjoying the experience of singing the song and he confirms that with a gentle "yeah" at the end of it.

I know exactly what Elvis was doing on Monday, December 27, 1976, but without a tape of the show in Wichita, I cannot verify whether the version of "Early Morning Rain" is complete -- thus my only mentioning Dec 28-31.

If you have a copy, why don't you let us all know?

It is as complete as it is during the rest of the shows on the tour.
The quality of the tape is terrible though.

Elvis did perform Early Morning Rain during the 27th December 1976 show and it is the complete version that lasts 3:11 but the sound is really bad on this CD-R but you can tell what song it is straight away with the guitar the clearest part of the song(Elvis just sounds drunk)
