I know he was very much into Cadillac, but did he ever purchase a Corvette for himself? I believe I read somewhere that he did buy 2 of them, but gave them away.

I have never read that -- and if he ever owned one, there is no known evidence (photos, paperwork, stories).

At the beginning of April 1963, Elvis got her a red 1963 Corvair to drive to school in Memphis. See "Careless Love" by Peter Guralnick, page 143.

I've found an answer to your question. According to the Archive Department at Elvis Presley Enterprises, Elvis never owned a Corvette. He did own a Ferarri, a Messerschmidt (German sportscar) and a Panterra. He preferred the luxury cars like Cadillacs or Lincolns.

Also, Graceland DOES have records of Elvis purchasing two Corvettes, but he gave them away to two very lucky people.

Here's an interesting fact: When Elvis bought someone a car he usually paid for a year's worth of car insurance AND all luxury taxes too!

The reason was that the cars he bought were expensive and the recipient couldn't usually afford insurance. So, they'd turn around and sell it. I hope I've told you a few new things and helped you a little. I'm glad to get questions every day. Thank you very much for yours!

Actually Elvis did give corvettes to several members of the Memphis Mafia . One was given to Dr. Nick's son Dean and I believe the other was given (as unlikely as they may sound) to Lamar Fike!

My guess for Elvis having really No interest in a Corvette might have been because it was only a two seater.

More times than not I'm sure he always had more than One person going along with him.

Now you all might come back and say the Harleys were only 2 seater's and he had other vehicles that were two seaters, however for what ever the reason I think the Vett was just different or the bottom line it was a car that was just not appealing to Elvis obviously.
