I was watching something the other night and they ran that commercial.
It was almost over before I realized what it was. I don't see it as any big deal (but it may be growing).

I really can't understand what the fuss is about. If we start sending letters of complaints about things like this it only gives fuel to the fire of people thinking that all Elvis fans are a bunch of crazies.

I'm sure many people find it hard watching the commercial. Of course after the commercial, it's probably even harder.

Here's what Lisa Marie recently said about the commercial on her Blog.

There has been recent question about the repulsive and degrading "Viva Viagra" commercial as to WHO is responsible for okaying that and letting it out there. There is no way in hell we would ever authorize anything like that. I have found out WHO did and I will tell you. The rights to that song are owned by "Doc Pomus' Estate". The guy's name is Will Bratton. WILL BRATTON and WARNER CHAPEL TOGETHER are Who Licensed it. They are the ones who are profiting and who are responsible for this LIMP **** OF A COMMERCIAL. Feel FREE to tell them how you feel about it if you want to wink wink.

Much Love
~LMP

Here's the funny thing about all of this, here she is willing to point out "There is no way in hell we would ever authorize anything like that." basically what she is saying because it does nothing for her father's image or legacy they wouldn't (EPE/Lisa Marie)go out of their way to do something just for the sake of money, but the "Doc Pomus' Estate" has, so please go after them and here is the mailing address to tell them how you feel.

Yet, who was responsible for giving more life to the Impersonators like never before and endorsing them???

Does she really think the impersonators as a whole are a better message than the Viagra commercial?

It's kinda ironic she would stand up for something like this and say she's not for it and it wasn't them but she doesn't do the same to come to the for front to say how she feels about the impersonators, but then again maybe we have our answer already since the impersonators were endorsed by them, EPE & Lisa Marie.

Meaning she obvious must think it's OK to say to people yep this is what my father looked like and sounded like in a jumpsuit or wearing blue suede shoes, but don't you go out an buy that Viagra now, because that commercial will make people think of my Daddy in that way and we wouldn't want people thinking he was not up to par or, or just that it would be an embarrassment to my fathers image and legacy and we wouldn't want that now would we .

I really don't think that's what she is saying. Regardless of her feelings on Elvis impersonators, tribute artists, or whatever the hell they're calling themselves now, the viagra commercial insulted me when I first saw it. Lord knows I don't need to take it, but even if I did, the commercial was embarrassing to me an Elvis fan.

Viva Viagra or an Elvis wannabe...which is worse? It's a toss up to me.

I will make an exception for the little lass that you posted in the other thread though. I couldn't find any fault with her.

Rob in reality of course it is unlikely she is actually saying what I said or for her to even really be thinking it, however she can't have it both ways, well she can but you know what I mean or I hope you do

See the thing is, she puts her foot in her mouth or contradicts what she her self says.

For example she condemns most of the M/M to Hell for the things they have said about her father, but then she said there were times I saw (meaning her) my father out of it where I had to help him sometimes to his room.

I mean come on is the story true? A nine year or less child is helping her drugged out father by having him lean on her.

Now even it was true, why say it or bring it up?

I'm sure if I took the time I could fine other contradictions or ways that she sways things in her way to suit herself.

I know I'm going off the beaten path here an I'm not trying to beat on Lisa here even tho it may appear that way, but as we all know Lisa is under the scope and she knows it so inreturn it would be nice if she could be as straight about other things as she is with this.

As One can always reflect on what she doesn't say or infact what she does say about other things concerning her Father.

The question gets back, I'm amazed this of all things bugged her enough to express how she feels, yet the impersonators appear not to be a concern to her, a least not enough where it would appear to be that she was also against them as well.

She of course maybe restricted in having her opinion expressed about what she may think because her own company is endorsing EPE/Ckx.

But if that's the case what's the point of suggesting another estate is cashing in and what they did was wrong?

How is she then any better?

I'm not defending or blaming LMP for anything one way or another. I'm simply stating again, how ignorant the commercial is and how much I despise it. Any Elvis fan that says they like that commercial probably needs more than viagra.

Who are we to judge Lisa Marie? We are Elvis fans, but she is his daughter. So far, she hasn't seemed to hurt his legacy too much. Until she does, I have no issues with her.

She's all right in my book.

That's still a far cry from publicly discussing EP's bowel movements and bathing habits, ala Fike. Like Lisa, I also have a very low opinion of the majority of the MM.

Hmm fair enough Rob, with respect to the viagra commercial I personally only saw it once or twice myself, I didn't like it right away because of the Elvis connection and I guess right away some of us may have felt embarrassed because of that Elvis connection only, maybe, maybe not.

But, right away after reading what Lisa wrote on her blog I got to thinking why does Elvis' image have to continue to go through much more embarrassing connections that are right in front of everyone's face now more so day in a day out, now more than ever because of your association meaning her's and hear you say meaning her nothing about that on your blog meaning her's.

Anyway it was just my opportunity to say something Rob about how I looked at it.

Well, I agree the commercial won't be a around for much longer it probably has even had it's run, that's really the reason I brought up the impersonator's as this is something that will be there in the for front for many years to come especially now more than ever because of EPE/Ckx/Lisa Marie endorsement and that's the bigger deal that will not go away, which I was surprised she was concerned enough to express how she felt and what One should do about the commercial, yet expresses nothing about the impersonators which are more damaging to her fathers image than the Viagra Commercial will ever be.

I do Not disagree with you EagleUSA, yet like I said there could be other things I could go further with what Lisa may have said as well about her father that could have been just as damaging to his image.

Priscilla as well has done the same, my point was she appears to come off like a person who is like "Do what I say, but do not do as I do" an that was my point.

It's actually a very funny stupid commercial if you really think about it.

I doubt in reality guys would be getting together like this an singing this song and then all thinking about Viagra at the same time. I still find it amazing that this bugged Lisa Marie enough to say something on her Blog, like good grief....

Thank you for being the voice of reason here Rob! I thought more Elvis fans would be put off by the use of this classic Elvis song in this way, but I guess they give it a "pass".....

...as far as LMP and CKX/EPE supporting Elvis ETAs, during "Elvis week" I met a number of Elvis impersonators and also fans that do like them... its not my cup of tea but if some other fans really enjoy them who am I or anyone else to rag on them?? I went to the Terry Mike Jeffery concert with the TCB band at the Peabody and while not really an "ETA" per se, it was a really wonderfull show!! I know also there are a number of people on this board who went to see Jamie Kelly and also Ronnie McDowell and they really enjoyed their shows! If its done with respect and a love for the music it will be a great show "yes" even an ETA. :D

Like Rob, I was also offended and shocked when I saw this commercial, so the info is above to contact them if you want to express your displeasure... oh and BTW I never saw ONE of of those damn Elvis ducks at Graceland or Memphis during Elvis week, that eveyone here is always quacking about!
