Impersonators are indeed pathetic. God I hate them!
"From three different sources," ranted Elvis, "I heard that I was strung out on heroin... I've never been strung out in my life..." Then Elvis explodes, "If I find or hear the individual that has said that about me," he threatened, "I'm gonna BREAK your GODDAMNED neck, you SON OF A BITCH! These reports are dangerous," he emphasised, "are damaging to my little daughter, to Priscilla, to my father, my doctor, my friends, everyone on stage and," he motioned to the audience, "to you...." Then he pointed at his invisible accuser, "I will pull your GODDAMNED tongue from the ROOTS!!!" he thundered.

I have a funny feeling that the whole thing was rigged and they allowed him to win.....at least that's the rumors going around because they had promotional videos of him performing before the contest started....
"If the songs don't go over, we can do a medley of costumes!" - Elvis Presley (August 10, 1970 backstage in his dressing room before the first show of the August, 10, 1970/September 8, 1970 season in Vegas).
My biggest problem of all of this is not so much the impersonators, everyone has to make a living any which way they can.
Some of these guys are OK for what they are and they obviously continue to grow in numbers so they are not going away any time soon, now more than ever it will never happen since EPE is endorsing them.
An that is where my biggest problem lies, EPE should have continued to make what ever royalties they wanted to from these events, for example Collingwood has been paying them royalties for over 10 years and so have the Elvis Story.
But why oh why did they chose to endorse them when they are dealing with the real thing ???
Well of course the answer is because of money, sadly this is the only reason, but by what they did there are so many people out there who think these guys are what Elvis was about and that is a real problem, especially when EPE stands up to the plate and says it's now all OK, we can't fight them anymore so we will join them.
Like come on this is a joke.
Because these guys get more attention then Elvis does and that's another thing that bugs me, hell they were really starting to go in the back ground there for a while when so many great things were happening with Elvis' music, now its all flushed down the toilet and that bugs me, I mean we all knew they were there and some of us may even like some of them even tho we may not admit it, I mean I know I have and still do for varies reasons, however I still do not agree with EPE backing them, it really is a slap in the face to Elvis' legacy and image, not to forget what this all does to his music.
But the bottom line is the all mighty dollar is more important....
I personally just wished EPE would have stayed in the back ground with this one.
Lisa Marie just recently suggested there is No way EPE would have allowed the Viagra commercial, does she really think this is any better for her Father's image?
Who allowed this to happen?
She must have had some say, what was it?
Why doesn't she express her honest feelings about EPE association with the impersonators?
Again they are what they are some are good some are bad and some are really bad.
Seeing them altogether like this really shows how much they do not sound like Elvis nor look like him and that in reality they sound and look more like each other than anything else.
But there is NO way any of them come close to Elvis this we all know and this is why EPE should have stayed clear.
An "That's The Way It Is"
It sounds like SONY/RCA/BMG really thought EPE were making a mistake suggested in this other thread too.

It is weird..although..I have backed Shawn on Bass in the past.. The guy is actually very cool (as well as very good). He doesn't "think" he is Elvis in between songs and stuff like that.
But I do agree it's a tad weird..
I would have to guess based on Shawn's schedule from 2006, I would bet anything he made $250k in 2006...minimum..that just blows my mind.

Some of these guys are racking in the cash there is No doubt about it, Carlini is another who has done exstremly well over the last few years I'm guessing well over 200 grand per year as well plus he just recently won 100 grand on the Tv show "The Next Best Thing".JonRomanovich wrote:It is weird..although..I have backed Shawn on Bass in the past.. Then there is Martin Fontaine another guy who is right up there, it's rumored he was making 4 grand per night when he would partisapate in The Elvis Story.
It just goes on an on.
But really No matter how good these guys are or how bad they are EPE should never have been involved, they should have stayed at arms lenght.
An that really is the issue more than anything else.
EPE's focus should have been and still should be on Elvis 100%.
This is really madness an a embarrassment in their decision to endorse the impersonator as this should have been left to the independent.
