But why the "fade-in"? Why not just remove Elvis vocals from the track and have him come in later?

Yes, they don't need censoring in any way.

The kids today hear every known expletive on their pop songs.

There is a warning sticker that can be applied for parental guidance.

Ironically, although they edited the suggestive parts on Lady Madonna, they still left a mumbled "f**kin" in, at around 45 seconds.

I love the feel to this jam, Elvis is clearly having fun, and I'd love to hear the whole thing.

I do too. It's a totally different take on the song, compared to the original, and it works. Bad language doesn't bother me, but it's a shame he swore quite so much in this period, as it's hindered the release of some great stuff. Seems MF was his fave word at the time

Prior to the fade-in Elvis sings "Where did you ever learn to beat your meat."

This answers Rockin' John's question as to why there is a fade-in.

It's also interesting to note that the subject of masturbation came up while Elvis was recording "Life" in June '70.

No, you're not imagining it.

A few expletives have 'slipped through the net'.

With Elvis' own daughter having expletives in her songs, even reproduced in the official lyric sheets, they don't have any reason to 'clean up' Elvis' stuff on moral grounds any more.

Anyhow, it would be nice to have a collection of all the jams! We've had many over the years spread over regular albums. Still, a collection of all the "one take only" songs would have been nice! Including the naughty ones!
