A wonderful clip - which makes me wonder: how well-known was Elvis' version among the "ordinary music audience" around this time? i think I've heard a version of the song With White before EP sang it...and one after, at the latter was arranged very similar to Elvis's arrangement - like this one...

Great Clip Shane, Thanks.
I don't know why but whenever I hear the Original track of a Cover done By Elvis I take an instant dislike to it........MUCH prefer Elvis's Version.

PEP,
I believe Elvis flew TJW to the International in Feb '70, so he could see the Presley take on Polk Salad Annie.
I also seem to remember that TJW was an observer at the July '73 Stax sessions where Elvis cut another two White compositions, I Got A Thing About You Baby and For Ol' Times Sake.
BTW, a few of the guys who played on White's original (late '68 / early '69?) recording of Polk Salad Annie also played on Elvis sessions, such as David Briggs (and possibly Putnam and Carrigan?).

Tony Joe White is still going strong. I've bought some of his later years releases and he really still "swamps"!
