"Inside Roustabout"who's looking forward to this

Book ?.....

Image

I will say right off..I'm am !

For a few reasons.....Roustabout was the first Elvis album my
older brother bought in the 60's....

Because of that album it turned our whole family into Elvis
fans.....

Roustabout may not be one of Elvis' best movies, infact far from it....

But when I was a kid in the 60's I thought it was the coolest
movie going.....

As far as the Album is concerned, I didn't know it at the time back in
the 60's as a kid, but it is something we all know now, that it was Elvis'
last Album to reach Number 1 in the 60's....

Image

I look forward to the day when FTD finds the missing tapes....

Image

Because a lot of songs on that Album I still play often.....
an I just know there are some takes of those songs
which are just waiting to be released in pure clean sound...

Like "Little Egypt" "Hard Knocks", "Wheels On My Heels" and
many more....are some of my favorite songs on that album...

The Album for the time really had some great music in my
opinion.....

One might argue the Beatles were doing a better job
or other groups around that time...but so what
Elvis turned sh$t into Gold....

Megan Murphy outside looking in did a pretty good job
on "Inside G.I. Blues"

Image

For her first outing, she did a better
job than most, this I know....and inreturn I know this is going
to be a pretty good book over all worth having in ones collection...

So, when its available don't forget to buy it !

If I'm not mistaken Ger did say on this board
he did provide a few pictures or articles to this
project.

Image

Just as he did for "Inside G.I.Blues"

Image

However they are
not his projects per say...an I'm sure he would be the first
to say so.....

The fine people behind "Elvis Unlimited" are backing
this book.....

Still because of Ger's original idea in the consept of the name
"Inside"

Image

An his dept given to Elvis' three movie's out of the four
done in the 50's, Ger gets a pat on the back each time
one of these dedicated movie books come out...

Anyway I don't want to be speaking for Ger as he should
be the one setting the record straight.... :D

I'm not so sure it still stands up but in my household growing up, this flick was a popular one along with the LP. Nice post, Pep.

The whole book-long focus on Elvis' movies is an interesting new frontier that I hope more fans begin exploring. The "Charro" one has gotten me hooked! And so I'm after the others!

P.S. to Pep: you meant "per se"

If the rare pictures posted on the Picture Gallery of this site by Pep a while ago are anything to go by, this "Rostabout" (!) book will be superb. Elvis looked great, the film was cool. This was the first VHS tape I bought when I got my first VCR machine back in 1980. Just a shame the album was so short at just over 20 minutes!!

I hope they do something with Roustabout on FTD. That soundtrack is really in need of a sound upgrade. The Double features sound stinks.

Maybe they could combine it another soundtrack that they don't have outtakes for like GGG for instance. That's another Double Features release badly in need of a sound upgrade.

Since these albums were both released back in the days of mono/stereo releases they could include both the mono and stereo mixes along with whatever else they do have.

I'd buy the package for the original mono mixes alone. Too say nothing of the booklet, pictures and artwork

Just thinking outloud.

I haven't seen the "G.I. Blues" book yet. Is the design any good? Would be nice to see a scann of a page or two... or maybe I could get my ass over to my local Elvis Unlimited store and check it out for myself.

I guess the nice thing about these books that are focused on a particular time period, especially the movies, is that they add a whole, unexpected, dimension to them. Many of us have fond memories of these movies, but at this late date to have someone to actually enlarge and expand the experience with rare photos, and nostaligic items added, is a terrific idea.

It's almost a mandatory related "experience" that has to go along with the movie. "Inside Girl Happy"? Bring it on!

It's happened with most movies (all the extras) and only just started with Elvis: the latest "Love Me Tender" DVD.

So this is a way of saying, if the studios won't do it, the fans will...!

I'm glad to see there has been some positive reaction to
not just "Inside G.I. Blues", but for the forth coming
book..."Inside Roustabout"

One can't deny for what One gets, the value is there !

An it seems with each project "Elvis Unlimited" is
involved with, It just gets better an better....

I would also like to believe with Megan Murphy being
on their team she is going to continue to be an asset
to them....an the Elvis fans...

An let us not forget Ger will be working with them in the near
future on a "Jailhouse Rock Anniversary"...which I know
is going to be something worth having

Support these projects if you can, because in the end
its an win, win situation for us all...

Roustabout was my first "expensive" record, bought at a record fair here in Denmark in the seventies. The amount was 2 weeks salary from cleaning my room at my parents house, but it was worth it.
Inside GI Blues is a top notch product and I'm sure Roustabout will be just as good.
