Whatever happened to Jailhouse Rock and Young and Beautiful?

Tue Jul 15, 2003 3:44 am

Some time ago there was a discussion of a live version of Jailhouse Rock in 1972 and a reheasrsal of Young and Beautiful. I think many people were expecting it on the TT@F set. Do these two tracks exist? If so, Does Ernst have possession of them? Any information is appreciated :D

Elvis did perform "Jailhouse rock" at the matinee show on April 9th 1972, but it was before the MGM cameras started rolling for "Elvis on tour". Also, a version of "Young and beautiful" from the "On tour" rehearsals exists. It is short and is in similar sound quality to the gospel jams included on both "Amazing grace" and "Peace in the valley" CD sets, although the sound quality on the latter is slightly improved for these performances.

In an interview a while ago, Ernst J. stated that the 1972 rehearsal of ┬┤Young and Beautiful┬┤ was filmed for Elvis On Tour.
It remains in the vaults up to now.
Would be great to finally see this one day though…
