I do believe that all takes have been released before. Of course alot of those were in mono. Perhaps they will be in stereo this time?

... On the Real McCoy label?!

Another one to add to my boss his long list of adventures... heh- heh.

If the other label had them in stereo, this new one will be in stereo,

Im sure. I mean, if you have to steal, better use the best source...

Its a nice picture, on the front cover, of this new double. But ripping

off the original RCA album back cover doesnt show much imagination!

... The back cover, of Spin In... featured the little joke when a

Speedway still was tossed in between the Spinout ones!

Yes, my boss, after a few drinks, was one funny dude!

Nod, nod, wink, wink ???

My boss would like to make clear, hes in no way involved with

this new double cd. Who is? There are 16 million Dutch people...

Surely, one of them, was involved? But not my boss. Hes got

better things to do...

Too bad the sound was ruined with that high end pitch on the HGTA sessions.

Even though that soundtrack had some merits (Dave Marsh was quite complimentary about it once upon a time), those lyrics may be the all-time worst sung by the King......

Some of the Spinout session studio tracks were also released on the "Unsurpassed Masters" box sets, which if I'm not mistaken are the companion sets to the "Celluloid Rock" box sets. In my view all of these boxes have a very wonderful & unprocessed sound quality, which is kind of unique in the bootleg world. It's quite obvious e.g. that most 1960-69 tracks on "There's Always Me" series were actually sourced from cassette tape copies and not original tapes.

P.S.: Funny, how the above sets are conspicuously absent from the otherwise highly complete and extremely accurate "Elvis in Norway" site.

Yes, that is "funny." What's behind that ? It's otherwise a great site.

I haven't seen this set but I noticed they've been in the FECC Top 40 for a long time.

More info on these sets can be found here: http://www.elvis-in-italy.it/studio%20sessions.htm

Sound quality is stunning, the 1969 outtakes on there sound much better than on TAM, at least one generation better.

That would not be such a problem. The Beatles sound great from cassettes. It is the poorly overused noise reduction that hampers the sound.

Thanks Ger! I know! I meant that the ones used for There Always Me series were noise reduced excessively. I have heard those cassetes..... and with hiss they sound much better.

I recall that a friend's expensive stereo in the '80s had a "Dolby noise-reduction" button and I remember trying it, thinking "this will be good!" ...as well as hearing "noise-reduction crowed about on some releases.

My reaction inevitably was that it took away a lot of the sound. I eventually learned to avoid "noise-reduction" at all costs.

Noise reduction

#287175

Post by deadringer »

TAM series was pretty good sounding considering the 90s sound restoration technology and all other BILKO CDs were more than OK... The noise reduction did not destroyed these tracks to my ears. Listen HOW GREAT THOU ART SESSIONS I and II CDs and you will hear real noise reduction holocaust resulting in "star wars" ringing sound...

That's why I never got the HOW GREAT THOU ART SESSIONS. They sound like a mp3 that was unpacked and re-compressed a thousand times.

The TAM series is legendary, but the sound problem is there, I admit.

How about a remaster on the BILKO CLASSICS SERIES label :D

Although a lot of that material has been released officially since then, BILKO could collect the yet unreleased stuff and remaster it properly.

The 1969 sessions for example, the Guitar Man stuff, the TTWII rehearsal (IN STEREO please!!!!!) and so on .....

Is that question pointed towards me?

Come on Gerry, at the very least spell my name right! You've done it before in the past, so no excuses :smt018

We'll never get the complete sessions from this movie production, as BMG (or the Bootleggers) don't have the tapes of the three instrumental tracks at the begining of the session (2001, 2002 & 2003). It seems that BMG's (and the Bootleggers) tapes only start with 2004 (Smorgasboard) so they don't have "Bivouac" (2001) or the other two instrumentals that were used in the movie "Spinout" (one of which has Elvis humming and whooping to the music!).

I have these instrumentals (Masters) on acetate

I hope this answers your question

Keith is it your contention then that Elvis' whooping and humming was pre-recorded in the studio? It sounded to me like it was recorded as it was filmed on the movie set live with the music. True?

If Elvis is heard humming & whooping, could this be considered an unreleased Elvis recording ?
