To my knowlegde there’s some kind of connection between Elvis and Angela Lansbury (“Jessica Fletcher” from the ‘Murder She Wrote series)
Can anyone shed some light on this and refresh my memory?

Angela Lansbury is the grandaughter of George Lansbury leader of the British Labour Party (1931-35). Lansbury was nine years older than Elvis when she played Chads mother Sarah Lee Gates in Blue Hawaii.

Lansbury said in one interview that Elvis used to remember her on Mothers Day.

One of the running jokes in Blue Hawaii had Sarah Lee (Lansbury) thinking that Chad (Elvis) just back from Army service had been in a matter how many times she was corrected by her husband played by Roland Winters.

"Sarah Lee how many times do I have to tell you he was not in a War"

"Oh I know you're right Daddy but if I don't tell myself there was a War I have the most depressing feeling Chadwicks just wasted 2 years"
