"A Legendary Performer" question (vinyl)

Tue Jun 06, 2006 1:00 am

Friends, this is geek question of the week:

Does the booklet to Vol 1 in the "A Legendary Performer" series include less pages than those for Vol 2, 3 and 4 or have I just bought a messed up copy?

I guess I already know the answer but I'd apreciate it if someone could confirm it. Damn it, I just hate it when people rip me off! (Yeah, perhaps I shouldn't bother with those old vinyl records but I can't resist them, they are too cool... :D )

Volume 1 (1974) - three 12 x 24" pages, folded in half

Volume 2 (1976) - four 12 x 24" pages, folded in half

Volume 3 (1978) - four 12 x 24" pages, folded in half

Volume 4 (1983) - three 12 x 24" pages, folded in half

Note: if you bought the picture disc edition of Volume 3, you did not get a booklet a-tall! But, oh, what a collector's item.

Aside from the booklet, does the LP have the orange label?

My Volume 1 and 2 have a black label, with gold print, no Nipper, of course. My volume 3 is from Cananda and the vinyl is gold, but the label's the same as the other two. Of course, volume three was after Elvis' death, in 1978

For your info--Legendary Performer Vol 3, does have a booklet, which is called Yesterdays. The back photo is the same photo as the picture disc
The first issue of Legendary Performer Vol 1 was on the orange label.

To clarify--I do mean the Picture Disc version, and once again, it did come with the photo album--Yesterdays.

Those picture discs turned out to be very uncollectable. They made more picture discs than regular vinyl (seems to me) and on top of that you could not play them for enjoymewnt as they sounded terrible.

You mean "Yesterdays..."

I guess my pic disc copy just dropped in value!

Thanks a lot, Doc! This means I have the complete booklet for Volume 1 after all. Nice.

These booklets are fantastic. Just look at the picture in Volume 1 where Elvis is seen sitting in his car, and behind him is that gigantic "In Person ELVIS PRESLEY" with a kind of bigger version of himself. I can't stop smiling when I look at that one! And of course there are plenty of other photos and stuff to look at at in these booklets.
