I have found that you never really get a good copy from TCM. However, there should still be official copies of the original film on DVD floating around. I have an original MGM NTSC DVD from a few years ago and the quality is so much better than anything on TCM.
Also all the footage on the original not in TTWII SE is now available on collectors DVD's with cd sound quality

JUST FOR TODAY
Why must it always be about the sound? What's wrong with you people?moodyblue1 wrote:Let's not forget how much the sound sucked in the original. Even more so on the DVD.
Sound be damned! At the very least, we still have the ugly lesbians talking about how big of an Elvis fan their cat is. What more could we possibly want in an Elvis documentary??!!

I watched the film again two days ago. Old tape, picture quality isn't up to DVD, but what the heck it's fun entertainment. Shoot that Hollywood camera!
Anyway I have been wondering about the Others aka the people.
Where did the crew film the people in the church? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but damn that man is just unfriendly to Elvis and his fans. What about the guy in the blue sweater? Did he ever write an angry letter? The African-American, who gets interviewed, is he the same guy who can be seen sitting ringside, rooking to "Patch It Up"? His text sounds scripted, but anyway. I found the International director interesting. Wonder where the autograph (Elvis and the Colonel) on his wall is these days.
