I don't like your idea, Curtis. I think they should stick to original albums as much as possible, since there are too many compilation CDs already. Besides, there are several years where such a CD wouldn't work. Most of the best tracks from 1963 were all released on "For The Asking," for example. 1968 has "Tomorrow Is A Long Time," and 1972 has "Burning Love." There's nothing to put on a CD for 1974, and to make a 'best of' CD for 1969 would basically be a condensed (or expanded?) "From Elvis In Memphis." The 'movie-only' years ( roughly '64, '65, '66, '67) would have only movie songs, and that doesn't sound like a good idea.

So I'm sorry, but I think your idea is a bad one.

1965 was actually the only year Elvis cut nothing but soundtracks, and there are some great secular recordings from 1966 and 1967, but most of these have already been issued in the correct context on the “Tomorrow Is A Long Time” CD.

I do agree though, that to issue a CD compilation from every year of the Presley career simply wouldn’t work. The material from the more productive periods has been issued time and time again, whilst the weaker material (and particularly the mid sixties soundtrack recordings) isn’t strong enough for a showcase release of this kind

HOW ABOUT....

I want to see a compilation called "Elvis sings Old Shep and Queenie wahie's Papaya and other disasters" and release it on 8 track cartridge only. How about take 3 of "Dominic" as a bonus track??
