Elvis #1 Singles (U.S. Box Set) - brilliant sound!

Sat Apr 01, 2006 12:10 am

Has anybody else gotten the new #1 Singles U.S. box set yet? It's a superb set sound and packaging wise and includes nine tracks that were newly DSD mastered for this collection (the rest of them are sourced from recent DSD masters). It's probably one of the best sounding Elvis sets that was ever released and continues BMG's quest to provide the most faithful reproduction of the original masters. Just an awesome achievement.

I never really listen to them though I try to keep them put up in the box, but yes the sound is very good, I have lsitened to them once or twice.

I've got it, and it's pure joy, both soundwise and not least the affection of bringing back the feel of good ol' 45's!
I've bought some of the UK No 1's as well, to sort of filling the gaps of all the No 1's on both sides.
Well worth having imo!

Perhaps at some point BMG could combine all the U.S. and U.K. #1 singles into a double disc set for the general public? Now this would be a *killer* collection. Below are the U.K. #1 singles that would have to be added to the U.S. #1 singles for a combined set:

One Night/I Got Stung
A Fool Such As I/I Need Your Love Tonight
Wooden Heart/Tonight Is So Right For Love
(Marie's The Name) His Latest Flame/Little Sister
Rock-a-hula-baby/Can't Help Falling In Love
She's Not You/Just Tell Her Jim Said Hello
(You're The) Devil In Disguise/Please Don't Drag The String Around
Crying In The Chapel/I Believe In The Man In The Sky
The Wonder Of You/Mama Liked The Roses
Way Down/Pledging My Love

I would have gone even further! Thinking about that Japanese box:
The Complete Singles Collection.
Including all the US and UK singles.
Maybe even adding some rare EU no 1's like Wooden Heart/Tonight Is So Right For Love/Tonight's All Right For Love (German extended version)
King Of The Whole Wide World/Home Is Where The Heart Is (No1 in Scandinavia)

:)

No, I know what your saying it would be a pain if you would want to sit around and listen to them but they're probably not for that, just to collect.

Sat Apr 01, 2006 7:39 am

it really would be fantatic to have them all sounding like this on one disc.

I'm not big into "collecting" stuff. I just buy Elvis cd's and listen to them.
I don't buy any memorabilia or anything like that.

I picked it up as well. Reminded me of vinyl box sets for some reason, love vinyl. Haven't opened, wanting to keep the box set sealed.
