2001 - How great thou art OUT NOW
I just received my copy of 2001's How great thou art sessions vol.1 . Everything is perfect except some disturbing background noise during the entire cd. Besides that the cover art is stunning, great candid's good lines, all songs in mono (?). But afterall it's a good cd all outtakes without the masters. The sound is not as good as the Stand by me cd's, by the same label.

I think they're in mono, but don't quote me on that...

Keith, it seems odd that you are condemning a CD you do not possess. As you are well aware, 2001 has offered mostly terrific releases in the past, so the integrity of your comments is suspect.keith flynn wrote:Gem ???? Really ????
As with any Presley disc, I'll reserve my critique until I have heard it.

This post implies you do not have the CD, thus my comment. So now you're saying you DO have the disc?keith flynn wrote:They are only in mono, and the masters aren't on the CD either. I think I'll wait for the other one !!!

Wrong. Perhaps you need to revisit your English writing class.
Your prose was unclear. The mono comments have been on this board -- and elsewhere -- for months. People who simply say they'll "wait" for another item don't usually do so after BUYING the first one. People who "wait" are looking for the BEST deal, which is the IMPLICATION of someone who will be "waiting."
Only in your newest post above do you state exactly what you mean. Maybe you'll accomplish this in one try next time.
You seem to be unusually heated over this 2001 CD. Hope you feel better soon.

Also wrong.keith flynn wrote:My first post ... also states that I'll wait for the other release, to compare the two !!!
It is your FOURTH post that actually uses the word "compare" and expresses the wish to compare the two releases.
Read and learn indeed ...

I can't believe those possitive posts here!
Grabt this cd from the newsserver today so I did not listen to the original cd.
Okay the content is great, complete sessions is what we all want but the sound quality here is really bad!!
Not the fact that all tracks are MONO but the disturbing (back)ground noise that oversamples and affects all instruments and background singers.
Ecpecially the tracks with many instruments like "How Great Thow Art" sound really awfull.
Ofcourse it's still a joy to hear alternatives. "In The Garden" is nice although takes 1 & 2 are only a rehearsal for the first two lines of the song.
To me it's really strange that this is the same label that released Stand By Me Vol.1 & 2 in "clear "MONO".
Hope the guy who posted this cd on the newsserver made some mistake but I doubt it, because I downloaded almost every Elvis import cd this way and never had a problem.

Well, after reading your comments i'm happy it's not a misprint which a received. The disturbing sound is really bad. It's strange because 2001 released in the past better (mono) outtakes from the same session. Is this just a rush job or what? Let's hope the next volumes will be better. I listen to this cd anyway, cause i'm a outtake fruitcake, but i saw some questionmarks appear on my wife and kids their foreheads this afternoon while playing it for its first round up. The kids don't see any sence in listening to the same song after and after again. Dad, why does he stop the song and starts laughing, and what is this counting deal before the song? Someday they will understand, i hope.

Quick question for ya: why are you wasting everyone's time with your comments on a CD YOU ADMIT YOU DO NOT POSSESS?
One suspects something else is at work here.
