Is this the new artwork for 2nd to None?

Wed Jul 02, 2003 4:27 am

It's the artwork shown in a USA Today article.

Wed Jul 02, 2003 4:39 am

I hope not :!:

Wed Jul 02, 2003 4:40 am

This pic is also on EIN. Like kiwi, I hope not.

Wed Jul 02, 2003 4:42 am

It's highly unlikely.

Wed Jul 02, 2003 5:07 am

That artwork(?) is about as bad as can be imagined.

Wed Jul 02, 2003 12:18 pm

It's bad for sure, but wouldn't that make a fantastic souvenir mug!

I hope I'm not too late to get a patent on this idea!

Wed Jul 02, 2003 12:44 pm

Now, that was funny!!

.....still laughing!

Wed Jul 02, 2003 2:53 pm

We got no face on E1. Maybe half a face on 2nd to none.
Do we have to wait for vol.3 to get the full face??

Wed Jul 02, 2003 3:13 pm

If you like it, that is fine, but I'm trying to figure out how that artwork "says just what it is." When I see it, it says "Elvis is number 2."

Perhaps this is something which unfolds?

BMG should let The Shape design the cover

Thu Jul 03, 2003 4:55 am

I don't like the disembodied head with a two getting tucked into it.
is it a new slot machine or a kiddy ride???

Thu Jul 03, 2003 5:54 am

Hey we might not get a piture cover, just the name of it like the 30#1
hit's cover.

Any who? when this thing do to come out in aug.

curtis simpkins

oh the other note on the close up cd box set
the vinyl is being made here in the us like the 30 #1 hit vinyl
so i think its coming out.

bmg pull the plug on castle last year, so they can do it here

a lot cheaper in the U.S. but i will finnd out lot more on this.

I hope NOT

Thu Jul 03, 2003 6:11 am

I hope NOT. The artwork is terrible - looks funny and abnormally unusual. But then Half A Loaf Is Better Than None.

still Elvis is the King Of the Whole Wide World - half face or no face!

Thu Jul 03, 2003 8:56 am

It is a clever graphic for what it was, an illustration for a news story. I'm sure a USA Today staffer designed it and it has nothing to do with what the final cover will be.

Fri Jul 04, 2003 9:55 am

I find it hard to believe that USA Today has staffers making mock album covers for their stories about upcoming album releases.

Fri Jul 04, 2003 6:02 pm

Who said it was a mock album cover?

Oh NO , not again

Sat Jul 05, 2003 5:13 am

I pray that this IS a Mock Album Cover and NOT the real thing. If this is the actual cover -then it will surely be a great Disaster. What a lousy cover art with a half face Elvis with a 2, looking more like a question mark (?).
Out of the thousands upon thousands of great Elvis photos - why this kind of slip-sod art design again & again. Ernst & Company, please do something about this.

Sat Jul 05, 2003 9:25 am

IMO, it wasn't an album cover, mock or otherwise, simply an illustration...

Didn't we go through something this before E1 also? Too many constipated people with high blood pressure. Lay off the salt people.

Read and learn!

The official site -- and cover art -- will be found here:

It was registered by BMG Music in Beverly Hills on 03 April 2003.

Currently the above URL defaults back to the ELV1S 30 #1 Hits page. This should change within the next eight weeks.

God bless!

It’s my guess that the “ELV1S” logo that was used for the 30 Number One Hits campaign will also be incorporated into the “Second To None” design. BMG used this logo on the last batch of re-issued albums, and as “Second To None” is intended as the follow up to “ELV1S” it seems likely that BMG will present the product in a way that the general public can identify with this.

great work Doc!

I give credit where credit is due, that was a nice find.

Mon Jul 07, 2003 7:51 am

Thanks, Scotch.

Mon Jul 07, 2003 7:51 am

Well spotted Doc!

Now that's keeping the eye on the ball.

Why Beverley Hills?

Mon Jul 07, 2003 9:41 am

Beverly Hills was the location of the BMG office that registered the site, not the location of the actual registration(which likely was done in cyberspace).

Mon Jul 07, 2003 10:42 pm

BMG maintains an office in Beverly Hills, CA.
