Parker would have built a freakin amusement park with Elvis Theme rides and charged everyone $20.00 per ride.

Let's not get too carried away here.

If it's not going to be a theme park - what will it be? A shopping complex with a multiplex?

And what's wrong with a freakin' theme park?

On par with Disneyland? Dream on :D

It's gonna be a mega multi-acre museum complex, possibly theater (Imax I hope), expanded car museum, and other things including a new hotel. The big news is that they plan to rebuild my old hood, Whitehaven and improve the surroundings of Graceland.

Sillerman was the one who said "on par with Disneyland", not Jay.

As for your question Jay, I think Sillerman will be bigger than colonel Paker was. All he did was manage Elvis. Sillerman is creating all these ideas of a themed hotel and expanded museums, and expanding the Elvis image to other parts of the world, etc. Parker had Elvis while he was alive. Sillerman has to promote and market a dead artist.

What boils my goat is that good ETA's get more flak from people on here than these crackpot schemes do.

Glad to see you back Lakeisha! Stick around and don't worry about these numbnuts!

Do you think we will be hearing Robert FX Sillerman in the same breath as Colonel Tom Parker some day? This guy has come from out of nowhere to be the guy in charge of EP's future as was Parker. He has done more good for EP's legacy and name just in the past few months then Parker did for E's entire career. Sure Parker made some good desicions but he made many more bad and poor decisions than he did good. While both men are well known as money hungry the difference that seperates Sillerman from Parker is that Sillerman is a long term invester who cares about his product that he is trying to sell and make a profit off of. Parker on the other hand only cared about "what can you do for me today not tomorrow and what about my boy". Sillerman has pride and respect for E's image and name. Parker would sell E to the devil for an extra dollar. Here's what Mr Sillerman has done just in the past few months as the new man in charge of EPE.

1)Sillerman plans an Elvis Theme hotel and casino in Las Vegas and promises to make it a major attraction on the Vegas strip.
Parker would have taken an old run down hotel and turned it into a carnival fiasco as he did the International Hotel when E played there.

2)Sillerman plans to re-develop the Graceland grounds and estate into a mega complex and re-devolping of an entire community to be an attraction on par with Disney World (not a theme park).

I think in about 10 to 20 years from now we will be looking back at this as the man who rebuilt E's legacy and took him to the highest heights of his career post 1973.

Well if Sillerman claims he's that clever, then he should get his genius act together and buy out some concert film footage from Turner, otherwise he's just wasting our time.

I would never believe what the developers are saying while trying to get through consent process.

The mind boggles at a multi-acre Muesum - with all respect to Elvis - what are they gonna fill it with - the gold records and jump suits won't extend that far.

This is all about money. Thus a static museum will not cut it. You need attractions, rides and food to make the bucks!

As for doing up the neighbourhood...yeah sure. Unless it's kick all the blacks out and sell expensive homes to the honkeys :D

It's all about money - people!

Graceland

Man, I sure hope it doesn't become an "Elvis disneyland." I was in Graceland last year and I loved every minute of it. I wouldn't want that to be turned into some kind of joke by some tacky development across the road.

Yes, Sillerman is going to promote Elvis well ( without being tacky ). What really counts is turning more younger people onto Elvis etc. He is going to do this.
