The Dragon has been released

Thu Jun 26, 2003 7:57 pm

I've read on one site that Dragonheart was released today. Released early instead of late? Wow, that would be a nice -Change of Habit- for the FTD team if this is true! Anyone else heard anything?

AWESOME..... AWESOME ARTWORK

I know that lots of people are complaining with every FTD release, but I want to keep things positive.... FTD really manages to keep the artwork different and fresh with every release.... Stunning!

Let's hope that we all will receive our copies before the weekend (that would be a great start :P)

Dragon Heart

Fri Jun 27, 2003 10:21 am

Well...

Seeing the WHOLE cover for the first time, I must admit that it isn't THAT bad! The front is a "disaster", in my opinion (and the title), but the back and the inlay is quite okay!

Let's hope the sound is good, as well. After all, THAT is the most important thing, along with the actual show, of course...

Yeap, I agree.
When I saw the cover for the first time I thought it was a joke. A bad joke, that is. Now FTD really isn't famous for creating the best covers and it definately is the content that counts. But hey, I'm paying a whole lotta money for this, much more than for a regular CD. I think it should be possible to let someone else than the apprentice or the janitor do the "artwork" for it. Who the heck chose those colors?? That looks like a porn movie cover!! You can't sell things like that IMO ... Let's hope the show's better ...

see-see-rider:

Right on. The music is always the most important thing, but the artwork is very important, too. This CD is a joke, layout-wise. And I can't see why they have to use pictures where Elvis looks this bad. I know that Elvis didn't always look too good at this point, but that's not an excuse. Just take a look at bootlegs like "Breathing Out Fire", "Cajun Tornado" and "Coming On Strong". All have beautiful covers.

FTD needs to do something about this.

It seems that there are several people involved in the artwork, because some of their releases ("Fame and Fortune", "Elvis at The International", "On Night in Vegas") looks absolutely GREAT.

The artwork is excellent, IMO.

looking forward to this release. :)

A must-have

I just received it and it's stunning! From artwork to performance and soundquality!

No "Also Sprach Zarathustra", so the show kicks in with a dynamic "See See Rider". Right from the dialogue after See See Rider it's obvious: Elvis is in a great mood. He also makes it clear to the audience that he won't do request songs, because he he had already laid out the tracks he's going to do.

"I Got a Woman - Amen" is also a good combo (once again). Also one of the most upbeat versions of "Amen" that I've ever heard :p

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" is one hell of a performance! Excellent!

Same goes for songs as "Let Me Be There", Elvis gives it the full 100%.... You thought that you've heard the best "Steamroller Blues" version? Forget that one, coz the version on this CD will blow every other version away! Man, does Elvis kicks ass with this version! Amazing!

"Allright, Okay, You Win"..... what a bonustrack this is! Never heard this jewel before.... very, very good... Thanks Ernst for sharing this one with us :D

GUNNY SACK??!!

Fri Jun 27, 2003 1:24 pm

Why all the critisism of the artwork? Jeez.
Can anyone tell me if the "Johnny B. Goode" is the one where Elvis sings the "Gunny sack" verse? I expect it isnt as Elvis did this the day before this show.

I was looking forward to the new Dragon Heart release--until the price went to $32.50. I won't be spending much more than that for the Close Up release.

That puts it out of my league--I guess FTD is going to be a rich man's game.

The gunny sack verse was sung at only one performance--and it happened the night before in South Bend.

I thought Elvis lloks preatty neat in these pictures! On the front right shot, it has been used before for the "Night Fever In Vegas" CD cover. The shot in the center on the cover has long been concidered(by me anyways) as one of the best shots ever of Elvis in his "Dragon" jumpsuit. I can't wait to get this FTD!

$32.50!

Why are they so rediculously priced? If i had to pay that (or the Euro-equivalent), i would certainly stop buying FTD's! Not that i can't afford it but if BMG thinks it can milk someone's hobby like that, they are very mistaken! :x

Received the cd today.

It's in my cd player right now. It's a very good show. Elvis is in a very good mood. Very funny how he talks about his new diamond ring wich he said to the audience that they bought it.

The songs he gives are also very good, unfortunately no extra verse in Johnny B. Good. But hell, he gives a very very good performance.

Thanks again FTD for giving us another masterpiece. No matter what every one says about the coverart or other minors. I will buy every release and not complaining.

The problem is the rate of exchange Euro - Dollar. Less than half a year ago a Euro did cost $ 0.85 but now it is $ 1.15
The good news is that for Europeans importing stuff from the USA is 20% cheaper now than half a year ago.

Still waiting for the definitive, unadultered review of this show.

I ordered my copy today online with the new Belgian fanclub (http://www.elvismatters.be) and there it's really cheap + they give discount for members + free shipping if you order before 1/7/03!

19,80 euro for a member and 22 euro for a non-member incl. shipping, if I'm not mistaken.

p.s.: I'm only a member, I don't have any other interest, I thought I just share this information, because some prices are just ridiculous...

Of course, the online shop of this very website is a very wonderful and cheap alternative too (Elvis Shop Center - FTD Shop).

Are there any reprisals with the exception of "Let Me Be There"?
