Tulsa,

Good choice, I love the "Acapulco" soundtrack, even the songs like "Rumba" what everbody seems to knock. I know a lot of guys, who think this is one of El's worst soundtracks because of the mexican flavour songs, but I love 'em

"El Toro" "Guadalajara" and "The Bullfighter Was A Lady" great stuff, love 'em.

Buy 'em all, The Kings in 'em.

No.... am sure that, most Elvis fans, who like to watch Elvis films properly and in full widescreen format, 5.1 surround etc. Will replace all their VHS in time.
I certainly will.
Also DVD will last and not deteriorate, like VHS does.

I will also be replacing my old VHS with these but...... not 'ANY DAY NOW'.

I'm going to wait after 'I GOT STUNG' last time on price.

Already they are cheaper on the net than in the shops, yes I seen them 'TODAY' but I resisted the temptation.

My 'DATE WITH ELVIS' on DVD is going to have to wait.

My guess is they will be down in price before you know it.

Look at the others already.

OK these titles are to be released here in a week or two, and I will be buying them. Also we are getting Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas.
I won't be buying these two titles because Warnere are giving us NTSC versions here. (We are a PAL country)
I was wondering what version of these are in the UK? Pal or NTSC.
I may have to send there for a copy if they are in PAL.

Joe:

That picture below your name... what film is it taken from? Elvis looks mighty cool! I don't care too much about the mid 60's films such as "Fun in Acapulco" and "Roustabout", but I'd love to get my hands on some of the later ones. He looked wonderful in films like "The Trouble With Girls" and "Change of Habit". I haven't seen them, though. Are they out on good quality DVD yet?

Sam, the versions of Jailhouse Rock & Viva Las Vegas are PAL and region 2 (so my flyers say) in the UK, Australia is region 4, region 2 will play ok here IF your DVD player is dezoned.

As a matter of interest, I don't know how the Australian NTSC region 4 Viva & Jailhouse are going to look, but a month ago I bought Westworld & Time After Time NTSC region 4 DVD's from BIG W and they played fine with perfect vision on my equipment.

The only restriction on playing NTSC format DVD or Video in Australia is that your TV being capable of displaying NTSC signal (most TV's in the last 6 years are ok).....if not sure check the specifications in your instruction manual for your TV.

I'll be buying Viva the day it comes out....I'll let you know how Ann looks
ooops how the DVD looks.

BTW Anyone bought the Classic Collection box set, it has Roustabout, GI Blues, Blue Hawaii & King Creole all in widescreen & 5.1 surround sound, I bought them last weekend......perfect picture & sound. PAL region 4 (from Myer stores).

Thanks Ray, I read a reveiw of the R4 NTSC jailhouse Rock, and the guy wasn't very impressed with it.

Here is part of the review.......

Okay, take a deep breath, and repeat after me:
“We live in Australia. We use PAL. We do not live in America. We do not use NTSC. We live in Australia. We use PAL. We do not live in America. We do not use NTSC. We live in Australia. We use PAL. We do not live in America. We do not use NTSC. We live in Australia. We use PAL. We do not live in America. We do not use NTSC. We live in Australia. We use PAL. We do not live in America. We do not use NTSC. We live in Australia. We use PAL. We do not live in America. We do not use NTSC. We live in Australia. We use PAL. We do not live in America. We do not use NTSC. PAL GOOD. NTSC BAD.”

That was just for the people who might have forgotten, that’s all. Because that’s basically what went through my mind watching Jailhouse Rock. I can’t say that the black and white picture impressed me at all, being very soft and under-detailed, but this wasn't helped any by the fact it's in NTSC. I simply couldn’t believe that after watching the Fox releases of Flaming Star, Wild in the Country and Love Me Tender, that another Elvis film, his third one, and a film loved by many fans, could be released so thoughtlessly by another company in such a shabby-arse way. You have to wonder whether they even care about films with this kind of behaviour.

......... So I'll look for a PAL release from R2. :D

8)

PS I bought the other releases when they first came out. About $33 each, now you get them in a box and it works out at $20 each. :x

Hey Sam & Carolyn, I bought the box set from Myer last weekend, I was in the shop (by accident) and saw the sign 15% off all DVD's....saw the box set.....grabbed it (the shop assistant said they've sold quite a few of these sets !) & paid AUS$ 68.70 (which works out at AUS$ 17.18 per DVD...a bargain for me). Luckily I'd not bought any of these before, I've got the other box set, the one that has Love Me Tender, Wild In The Country & Flaming Star.........so they'll be getting some company soon ....FUN IN ACAPULCO ......love the music in that one for some reason

Yes Carolyn, providing the ones' you have are widescreen 5.1 surround sound, they are the same (the artwork is the same).

Way to go Sam, I'll add the others over time. Carolyn, never mind not eating next month, you'll have to get time off from work to play & listen to them all  , although listening shouldn't be a problem for you at your work

MVC Stores in UK are doing these DVDs at £13.49, slightly cheeper than other retailers.

I think the going price in most shops is £15:99.

KEEP ON ROCKIN'

You mean when he's on the bike etc. That's how it's filmed though in it.

Nothing they can do about that.

"Bossa Nova Baby" has got to be one of the best soundtrack records, of the 60's, although what about "Return To Sender", "C'mon Everybody" or even the fantastic "Clean Up Your Own Back Yard"

I don't know, I love 'em all.
