Question about Hound Dog on MSG cd

Sun Nov 27, 2005 6:10 am

I have a question. I saw there was a thread regarding the cd "As Recorded at Madison Square Garden" and I thought about listening to this one again. The poster was right. Elvis' vocals are burried in the mix. But what I never really noticed before was right before he sings Hound Dog. There's a part where Elvis says "but a" as a tease, then it sounds like he skips a word then sings Hound Dog. To make you know more what I am sayin is that it sounds like a scratch on a record, how it jumps.

Is this a glitch or just bad editing?

You mean, where he goes, "but a, huh" right before starting the song? I always thought that was him goofing around...

Maybe this was an early attempt to fix the pop on Hound Dog in a live version.............

Are you referring to the fact that Elvis intentionally skips the word
'Houng Dog', so the audience can sing it, which thay do.
I alwys thought that was pretty special

I think what sounds like a skip or a pop is the kick drum hitting at the same time Elvis says "uh". Ronnie following Elvis to a tee.
