What´s your favorite James Burton band intro solo during the years 1974 - 1977. Mine is defenately Delta Lady. This solo is totally instrumental and gives Burton more justice than What´d I Say or Johnny B. Good. Such a shame James only played this solo twice (April 29th & 30th 1977).
What´s yours??
Kind regards,
Stefan

I really like What I´d Say from March 1976 without the singing.
Suzie Q from 1970 or 1975 is also great.

Not that i wanna knock James Burton....he's a first class guitar player.. but most of his live lead breaks are just standard rock and roll lead breaks...
I prefer his studio lead breaks, one that springs to mind is the lead break from Stranger In The Crowd...nice.

Hi,
My favorite James Burton solo would be on the Las Vegas show (the infamous one) from September 2th, 1974 closing.
James does a terrific solo here, called "Shaft" by Elvis, because of the famous Shaft theme from those days.
Listen to it, it's the best!

And another great solo during the dinner show in Las Vegas, March 21st. 1975 too. Here he sounds almost like Hendrix/Walsh and it´s the best I´ve ever heard him improvise on stage with Elvis.
