"Loving You" FTD

Mon Nov 14, 2005 11:01 pm

We should be getting a track listing soon for the FTD "Loving You," but I'll speculate that the newly discovered takes are from the session at Paramount on January 21-22, 1957. During that session Elvis recorded: "Party (record version) - Master = Take 11"; "Mean Woman Blues - Master = Take 7"; and "Loving You (farm version) - Master = Take 14". Only "Party (record version) - Master = Take 11" has been released to date. So, if true, there should be a number of interesting takes for release.

Elvis also had a session at Paramount on January 15-18; however, "Mean Woman Blues" was not tried there, so I'm betting on the January 21-22, 1957, session.

this does sound logical unless they found some from jan 15-18 and jan 21-22.
i bet it's from the jan 21-22 sessions too.
they are recorded in twin track stereo.

Is disc 1 to be exactly as released back in January and disc 2 have both released and unreleased out-takes?

I did not buy the single disc mainstream label release (thank-goodness),
is there any extra room on that disc for extra out-takes?

It is hard to imagine there being 2 full cds worth of material. Plan on the cd lengths leaving a lot to be desired (like on Elvis On Tour - The Rehearsals).
