Elvis Presley tops tops the annual list of the Top 100 Most Successful Acts Of All Time in The Book Of British Hit Singles & Albums, published by Guinness World Records. The chart is based on the total number of weeks each contender has spent on the official UK Singles and Album charts from 1952 to the present.

It must also be remembered that the above points total only takes one up to the end of 2004. The points gained from the success of the 18 No.1's campaign earlier this year will put Elvis' total a great deal higher.

If you add the Shadows to Cliff Richard you get more as well.

But even though some of Cliffs hits were credited to "Cliif Richard and The Shadows" its almost irelevant anyway.

I guess the Supremes would climb the list as well if they were added to Diana Ross' tally.

By the end of 2005, Elvis will have a lead of about 11.5 years over his nearest rival Cliff Richard in the combined Chart for weekly points gained with albums and singles.

Elvis is going to be a hard act to follow.

Rather than listing 'weeks on the chart', this is a tally of 'chart weeks'.

A 'chart week' means an appearance on the chart.

With more than one hit charting at a time, it is possible to add several 'chart weeks' to your tally in just the one week !

The chance of this happening is even more likely now that both the single and the album charts are used as a reference.

I'm sure he's not and hasn't been the most photographed man for a litttle while now, but I'm not sure who would be, Prince William ?

I would say that Elvis has had more photographs published than any other man.

With digital and before that fast motor wind cameras of the late 70's and 80's and the price of film being the cheapest part of photography by then it has to be that because more photographs were taken in general of subjects that a popular figure would be photographed more.

But I dunno for sure.... there was a heck of a lot of flash bulbs popping when Elvis came out on stage, some of those concerts must have seen 5000 photos taken in the first 10 to 15 seconds of Elvis walking out.

You're right. The light show during Elvis' concerts was something to see. (and that's only from the flashbulbs and not the stage lighting.)

Madonna sure has successes with both albums and singles, so I don't see any problem.

Go to elvisinfonet.com, it also listed the 3rd placer at 17491, they must have copied and pasted from who knows where
