A Word Of Caution About TTWII Outtakes

#202164

Post by Rob »

I know that everyone is eager to see these. However, let me just give you a little warning if you are thinking about spending a lot of money on them. I don't have to do this, but hey, I'm a nice guy.

Some people are offering 11 DVD's of this stuff. Don't go there. What you are getting is much of the same footage over and over except for different camera angles. Much of this footage is also silent. I have been collecting Elvis concert footage for years and am now to the point that silent footage (unless it is a very rare show and in excellent quality) does nothing for me. Been there, done that.

The best footage with sound of the TTWII outtakes can be put on one DVD. Stranger In The Crowd, Words, I Just Can't Help Believin', Make The World Go Away, etc.

Don't buy 11 DVD's of this footage because you won't be watching it very often. That is unless you like the same silent footage shown from the back of the stage, the side of the stage, etc. Again, you can put ALL of the good footage together (like a good friend of mine did) and combine it to one DVD.

I'm just trying to save you from keeping your electricity shut off this winter after you spend all of your money for 11 DVD's that you probably won't watch, except for maybe a couple of hours.

That's my advice. Take it or leave it.

TTWII OUTTAKES DVDs

#202172

Post by Polksalad1971 »

I agree in some ways but for hardcore fans sound or no sound seeing the king gyrating from a different back angle on footage never ever released is just amazing , Though I agree the sets have been highly priced with some sellers selling these for $150 for 11 or 12 discs!! The price will drop though I am sure with some selling now for a more reasonable $100 etc
Hopefully some smartish bootleggers will get hold of these too and create a tasteful 2 dvd set of this in a nice package at a good price..otherwise I think fans will still want to see the outtakes etc

I do agree that after a while it gets a little bit "much of the same" but the idea is to get it free

$100 is really too much.

Getting more difficult all the time to keep track of just what is available on these DVD's. So many people seem to be splitting the recordings up to spread them over more and more discs or adding officially released material to lengthen the running time of each disc. I saw a disc for sale with a running time of 29 minutes which included several sequences lifted direct from TTWII SE and Lost Performances. A real rip off considering this was offered for sale by a well known Elvis dealer and priced at fifty quid.

Odd, the set I'm aware of has very little footage that is silent. I've heard that much of the set with 20 hrs of footage is silent, but the 11 disc set is more like 8 hrs, most of which has audio.

i have a copy of the 11 DVD version, and what I did was import all of the footage from the shows on 8/10 and 8/12 MS to my computer and compiled as much of the show as possible using the best angles and synching it with the RCA/FTD cds(which worked perfectly with no speed adjustment). The final product for me is much more enjoyable than watching TTWII, and I for one wish that Turner would do this with all 6 shows.

A friend of mine recently ordered a set of 35 DVDs with TTWII outtakes. And he paid A LOT of money for it, more than I gte paid a month. He is buying it from a wellknown fanclub which made him feel safe, but I am afraid he is being ripped off. Do you guys know anything about this set?

Exactly. I'm dying to see this footage and the "On Tour" outtakes but to be honest I haven't bought any of it yet. There's already talk about a 2 DVD "On Tour" set with the best material on it, pressed on real silver discs and with professional artwork. My hope is we'll get both the "TTWII" and the "On Tour" material presented this way in the not to distant future.
