FTD - The Masters Series

Mon Sep 26, 2005 2:22 am

As part of the FTD catalogue I'd love to see a series of compilations featuring undubbed, unedited, non faded master takes with pre and pro song banter.
Perhaps they could be made with a theme of chart entries, or sessions, or the year they were recorded. Even just 8 masters from each decade would be nice making 24 tracks for each FTD release.

A good idea! It sounds interesting..

I would buy into that.

My dream would be for a series of CD's containing all 4,8, 16 and 32 tracks separated of particular songs.

We could then mix to our heart's content.

This is what I really enjoy about studio sessions. It's almost like actually being there.

Not to mention that you sometimes really hear interesting things while listening to them through a good set of headphones.

That would be great except for the masters that were made from 2 or more takes.

But you'd need specialist equipment to 're-assemble' them, wouldn't you ?

One day I think CD players will enable this as standard.

You could mix them via computer, plenty of programs around ...some even free.
