What do you know about the new Crying In The Chapel Reggae Remix?

I have seen many vinyl copies of this remix on ebay and now there is a new cd version!

Is this rare or collectable?

Hi Elvis37,

I was lucky enough to get hold of a copy of this CD a few weeks ago. :D

I can tell you that hearing Elvis singing Chapel and Ghetto in reggae style is a new experience. 8) I wouldn't say that its a brilliant mix but it works in a strange sort of way.

I have no idea if the CD is rare or not

Its a CDR right?

Fri Sep 23, 2005 10:33 pm

So where can I listen to these remixes?

Fri Sep 23, 2005 11:02 pm

It's not as good as the very latest reggie re-mixes:

'Clean up your own back Yardie' and 'Beyond The Reefer'

  :D  8)

You can listen to a sample of the reggae remixes here....

The original vinyl is quite rare! It was snapped up by reggae fans before most Elvis fans were aware of it's existence.

Thanks for that, Delboy! I give the edge to the "Chapel" remix.

Good to hear!

Thanks for posting the link. Very enjoyable!!

Can anyone confirm that the CD is CDR?

I listened to the snippet that Delboy put up. It sounds good!

I heard it's going to be part of a set of remixes.

I can't wait to hear them!!!

The copy that i have of this CD, is not a cdr. The CD also includes an insert which states that this Cd is number one in a collection of remix singles being issued over the coming months.

Each CD is numbered, my copy is number 0349 and I have no idea of the total amount released.

If I get hold of anymore information about the other releases, I will let you know.

I liked too.. It´s not that bad, but I still prefer the original!

The melody doesn't hold any trend with the song itself. It is almost like someone played the original song trough the speakers and someone else is trying to add some extra sample-sound to it.
The *in the Ghetto* song is even worse then *Crying in the Chappel* imo.

I would rather hear the original then this.
If you wanna hear a real good cover-remix of an Elvis song:
Tryout the *Can't help falling in love with you* from the group UB40.
Now that is a great remix and cover.

1 word that immediately comes to mind when hearing these, so called, remixes...

HORRENDOUS :!: :!: :!:

Aren't these really what are known as "mash-ups" rather than remixes? Like the famous Rapture Riders mash-up of Blondie's Rapture and The Doors Riders On The Storm?

Sometimes they work really well, but sometimes they don't. I like the Crying In The Chapel / Satisfy My Soul mash-up.

Hey Minky, are you going to post a link to your KingCreole remix one day?

Mon Sep 26, 2005 8:18 am

You're probably right, Adam. They do have a "mash-up" quality (read: a collision feeling) but in my book, it's inventive in small doses.

These are "love or hate" propositions but thanks for trying, whoever
made these!

If they are numbered, then I guess they are collectable then.
What do you think?

URGENT

I am DJing at the week long Elvis festival at Mablethorpe from this saturday (Oct. 1st). Can anyone supply with a CDR of the reggae "Crying in the chapel" remix by then please to play for the 900 fans in attendance? I have tried to get this on Ebay but to no avail.
I will pay your asking price,

I do like some re-mixes , but these two In the Ghetto/ Crying in the chapel are the worst ever.....Elvis is Elvis and Elvis had a great feeling for the beat and rythm, It's like playing two different songs through each other, it's not even synchronized...

Tue Sep 27, 2005 2:37 am

I could only listen to about 20 seconds of each before I threw up on my shoes. What a load of crap.

Tue Sep 27, 2005 5:06 pm

I disagree, Eagle. They don't totally mesh, but as an experiment, it's cool
to hear Elvis worked into the classic sound of the Wailers.

I don't love reggae, but a song or two of it can be entertaining, such
as classic "The Harder They Come" soundtrack, of which I have the original LP which I got for free once.

If you hate reggae, just say so and don't pretend to have given this
remix a fair hearing.

Tue Sep 27, 2005 6:46 pm

I actually don't hate reggae...I just think they did an incredibly BAD job on those mixes.

Just to appease you, Greg, I listened to both in their entirety. I then threw up on my shoes again.

Okay, fair enough, Eag'...

They need work, but in spots I think it's pretty cool.
