Elvis mentioned in Kate Bush Song.

Never thought I'd hear Kate Bush doing a song about Elvis, let alone her impersonation of him:

"Elvis are you out there somewhere , looking like a happy man ?"

in her best mumbled Tennessee accent...BRILLIANT!" From BBC 2 Radio message board. Image

Another excuse to use this photo:-) Kate's latest single may cause quite a commotion!

Thanks for that Maurice - I'll hot-shot it to the Radio 2 message site.... well, as hot-shot my dial-up will allow!

Sam -

And I could !

It's only the opportunity that I'm lacking - nothing else !

Down boys:-)

Thanks Getlo, I've just listened to the Kate Bush song on BBC2... the Ken Bruce show 38 minutes in.

The song is "King of the Mountain" and it is pure Kate... hypnotic...sure to be a hit for the beautiful lady with the marvellous high pitched and sensuous voice.

Thanks for the info' maurice !

I gave it a listen and I'm impressed !

I've copied the lyrics here that were posted on a Kate site,

King of the Mountain

Could you see the aisles of women?
Could you see them screaming and weeping?
Could you see the storm rising?
Could you see the guy who was driving?
Could you climb higher and higher?
Could you climb right over the top?
Why does a multi-millionaire
Fill up his home with priceless junk?

The wind is whistling
The wind is whistling
Through the house

Elvis are you out there somewhere
Looking like a happy man?
In the snow with Rosebud
And king of the mountain

Another Hollywood waitress
Is telling us she's having your baby
And there's a rumour that you're on ice
And you will rise again someday
And that there's a photograph
Where you're dancing on your grave

The wind is whistling
The wind is whistling
Through the house

Elvis are you out there somewhere
Looking like a happy man?
In the snow with Rosebud
And king of the mountain

The wind it blows
The wind it blows the door closed

Thanksamillion Dan_T, It takes a while for some of Kate Bush's lyrics to become clear enough to follow..a little like some of the Elvis songs where the pronunciation of certain words mislead first (or ten) time listeners:-)

I'll be purchasing the single...and the Album too.

Her self imposed twelve year exile from the charts must make her "amazing" comeback one of the most remarkable in the history of popular music.

A bonus for Elvis fans too!

Met Kate at the "Never for Ever" Album signing event Manchester UK 1980. See blow.

MB280E, A very Silly post.

Kate Bush is a major artist. She has a beautiful voice and writes wonderful imaginative lyrics.

Thu Sep 22, 2005 1:11 pm

Yes, it was a silly post! When I became a member this was an Elvis messageboard, not a Kate Bush messageboard. An "All Elvis" section means Elvis, Elvis and nothing but Elvis. For everything else we have the "Off Topic" section! If you want to discuss Kate Bush, why do it on an Elvis messageboard...?

MB280E, Because Kate is singing about Elvis Presley on her new single it makes this post an Elvis theme.

I'm sure the vast majority of Elvis fans, whether they like Kate Bush or not, will welcome the news.

If she is interviewed by the media it will be interesting to hear why she wrote a song about Elvis.
I read somewhere she listened to Elvis songs on 78s at school.

Didn't you read the post ?

She has a new single coming out and the song is about Elvis !

You know, Elvis Presley - not Costello.

For once, something I can agree with Maurice on. Kate Bush is one of our finest artists, the new single is incredible, and I am waiting with great anticipation for the release of the album on November 7. And she pays tribute to Elvis to boot. Don't leave it another 12 years, Kate.

MB280E, a) you fail to recognise a great artist when you see one, and b) since this new song mentions Elvis by name, where else do you think a post like this belongs but in the All Elvis section.

Stephen, Wonders will never cease.

An oil paint sketch I did from a photo of Kate Bush 1981. She liked it:-)

Well Mr Butler, the post was about Kate Bush the artist wasn´t it, and a song where she mentions Elvis? If someone said to you, "Hey, have you heard this song by Kate Bush where she mentions Elvis?" would you say the subject was about a)Elvis, b)Kate Bush or c) a song by Kate Bush? And if you were to find info on this subject where would you search for it a) The Elvis forum or b) a Kate Bush website??

MB280E -

Let's put it this way:

If Elvis had recorded a song about Kate Bush, you'd expect them to be discussing it for ever on the Kate Bush MB, wouldn't you ?

Thu Sep 22, 2005 6:08 pm

No!

Pornpictures MB? C'mon now, Maurice posted a publicity picture of the lovely Kate Bush. She's fully clothed, not performing a sex act. It's not as if he posted a picture of Kate's bush.

Don´t get me wrong Pete, I love porn! I was just proving a point...!

Actually, I would say the subject was Kate Bush the artist mentioning Elvis. Therefore, if I were to look for such a subject (I haven't), I could equally expect to find it on either a Kate Bush or Elvis website. I really find it pointless debating where a post should or should not go, particularly this one, where Elvis is mentioned in the title of the thread. If you are an administrator of this board, I suggest you move it to where you feel it is appropriate. If not, perhaps you would like to leave it alone and allow fans who wish to discuss Kate Bush the artist mentioning Elvis to do so.
