I went to Graceland in June 1997 and the powder blue suit wasn't on display then. The displays must have been changed for July.

The collar looks like it wasn't made to stand up. Surely this wouldn't have been the case, as all Elvis's later jumpsuits had stand-up collars?

If the suit was unfinished in August 1977, it most certainly wasn't planned to be worn during the forthcoming tour. It would be more than likely that Elvis would have continued with the Sundial suit.

The question is, was the suit ever going to be worn by Elvis? Or is it a mere token suit they have put on display, to show us what might have been.

Elvis would have probably looked better in his pyjamas. The suit doesn't look very good at all. In fact, it looks cheap.

As for the belt - that could have come out of a breakfast cereal packet! The whole outfit looks tacky and poorly made.

As I understand it, it was uncommon for Elvis to have new stage attire made for road tours.
This was mainly saved for upcoming Vegas performances with the exception of shows like Aloha & MSG.
With there being no scheduled performance set for Vegas by August of 1977, it's difficult to say what this jumpsuit was design for???
Maybe Bill Belew might know???
How come that the suits aren't showed with Elvis 'in' it? I mean, they could easily make a wax statue (like Madam Tussau) with Elvis' face from the period that he worn a particular suite (same goes with body size)...

I think that way the suits would make a better impact than just showing them on a thin 'showing doll' without a head and hands...
Albert, I have to disagree with you on that one, I do understand why you say it though and I respect your preference.
Myself, I prefer to look at the garments without any distraction and by using a 'full' figure it distracts my eye.
Here's an example of what I mean.

Not for me I'm afraid

I agree. Too distracting. They wouldn't be able to fashion a good enough likeness for the head.

Have you seen the 'Elvis' in Tussards? It looks nothing like him!

I haven't been to Tussards but have seen pictures of it... uuurgh.
The best one I can recall is the one in L.A. it's shown briefly on the Elvis Presley's America VHS/DVD.
That's the only one I can think of that does him justice.

Getlo -

The 'Elvis' model in Madame Tussard's Waxworks [in London] is the 2nd version !

For the first [& only] time in their history, they had to replace the original one because of complaints that it was nothing like the subject !

Even now it isn't exactly great.
