I would like someone to confirm the following as I have seen this picture posted on another website.
I assume the jumpsuit that is in question is the unfinished light blue jumpsuit that Elvis never wore - if it is not then I apologize in advance.
I do not believe this is the "unfinished" jumpsuit that was on display at Graceland when I saw it in 1984.
I don't know where this pic came from but I cannot believe that Elvis would have OK'd the design of this outfit.
When I was 9 years old I had pajamas that looked exactly like this jumpsuit.
Can anyone verify that this in fact was a jumpsuit to be worn by Elvis?

Must agree with Elvis-Fan on this one, I couldn't see The King wearing such a crappy outfit, no chance.
Like Elvis - Fan says, it looks like a pair of pajamas and look at the state of the belt, for God sake, no Elvis had better taste than that. He would not have worn that in public.... No Way

Here it is on display at Graceland in July 1997.
I also viewed the same suit in 1984 when it was
dislpayed at the far end of the trophy room with cases packed
ready for the up coming tour, I have a picture of that also
but can't find it right now

I have just updated my post and photos above.
TITI, I have to tell you that your photo is not from 1984 but a lot later.
How do I know this?
1. I checked my negatives which are dated.
2. Graceland did not have display cases in 1984 as everything was open plan including the 68 comeback leather suit which I touched
I know, naughty naughty

Thanks for the post ME4EP.
I remember seeing the outfit I just couldn't remember the design except that it was light blue.
I don't recall there being a belt with it though. Is that belt original?
When they had the actual tour guides in 1984, I remember they indicated that this jumpsuit
was not complete or that the final fittings had not been done... something like that.
Just a note... I touched the Aloha 6ft cape that was on display at that time.
That was pretty cool.
All the jumpsuits (or a bunch of them anyway) were hanging on a rack like the one you see in the movie "This Is Elvis".
They also had one of his Harley motorcycles in the trophy room.
I wonder how many jumpsuits he would have brought on tour with him at any given time???

Like you, N8, I was thinking that if we had actually gotten to see Elvis wear this, not so many people would think it's that bad. I happen to think it's pretty cool--for Elvis in the 70's that is.
Which was the last powder blue jumpsuit that he wore, anyway?
Also, no one seems very impressed with the belt; perhaps that is why it wasn't always displayed on the suit? I hadn't seen those pics before--just the one with the belt. Is that one from a Graceland display? I have not noticed it at Graceland before. If it was there, it was before I knew about this suit and no attention was drawn to the fact that it was to be worn on "the tour that never was".
And where is this suit now?

How come that the suits aren't showed with Elvis 'in' it? I mean, they could easily make a wax statue (like Madam Tussau) with Elvis' face from the period that he worn a particular suite (same goes with body size)...
I think that way the suits would make a better impact than just showing them on a thin 'showing doll' without a head and hands...

Sorry guys, but I just could not see the guy I have admirred for 30 years and maybe more, who always looked his best and super cool in public, wearing that, especially the belt. NO WAY!
Just because they made it for him, don't mean he would have worn it, I bet Bill Belew made plenty of suits for Elvis, and he turned 'em down. It's just he didn't have chance to turn this one down.
The guy had style

Actually, it is quite the opposite case. Elvis rarely had a problem with the things Belew made for him. In fact, Belew himself said that Elvis was always pretty good to him about that kind of thing. Elvis even liked some of the IC suits so much that he incorporated them into his everyday casual wear.Joe Lightcloud wrote:Just because they made it for him, don't mean he would have worn it, I bet Bill Belew made plenty of suits for Elvis, and he turned 'em down. I guess you haven't seen some of the sweat suits that Elvis preferred in 1977. Not exactly what I would call "style", but ............ certainly comfortable for travel. Elvis certainly knew how to travel in style though!Joe Lightcloud wrote:The guy had style.
I do, however, agree, that the final decision regarding any outfits was always with Elvis. Who's to say? We'll never know.

When you say sweat suits, do you mean such suits as the black tracksuit, he often wore, like in the CBS special outakes when he arrives in the car at Rapid City.
I think he looks ace in that.

thanks folks for all those really interesting answers . it's true this "unfinished" jumpsuit looks .....for some of you bad and for some of you great . On Elvis , this jumpsuit would have been , maybe, great .
to go further on this topic (if you don't mind) do you have any informations or/and pics of what i could call the "outtakes" jumpsuits ?? (the jumpsuits elvis did not want to wear or/and unfinished ? )
all the best
