Looking for Flashback

Mon Aug 29, 2005 2:38 am

I am looking for a copy of the FTD book/CD Flashback. I have a copy of the Heirloom Tradition boxed set of The Life of Elvis Presley and Elvs' Portrait Portfolio by Sean Shaver to offer in exchange. If anyone has an extra copy they would like to trade, please PM or e-mail me. If you have an extra copy but would rather sell it or are looking for another trade, let me know that as well.

Thank you.

John -
Don't settle for a used copy. Order a brand new one.

It's well worth it.

I double that recommendation.

It is absolutely a beautiful book and the accompying cd is sensational.

with this disc and book, you will see and hear, not only the evolution of Elvis Presley, but the early rumblings of Rock N Roll...

ESSENTIAL!!!

"Used" doesn't always mean literally "used."

You can get some "like new" items that you'll never
notice the difference on.

Still, this one is a keeper. By any means...! :D

It's "That's The Way It Was" and the Texas one
that I need to finagle....

Maybe, but I hope he knows what he's getting before something "used" arrives.

An FTD as good as Flashback is worth buying "new" and not messing with something that you are unsure of.

All I'm saying is......just check it out (if possible) before settling for anything "used" in the Elvis world.

The internet world is pretty good in letting the buyer
pick out "like new," "new but opened," etc.

I've had nary a problem.

But I agree: buying new is always the best thing.

Unless, of course, you buy an FTD from EPE, where
they throw the 7-incher into a flimsy envelope...!

yeh...and then your FTD fromEPE comes with creases and ALL sides too!!!

this has happened to me on 3 different purchases!

mutha *****!!!

I was thinking of ordering a few soon again from them.

Now, Mink, I'm wondering if I should, especially the 7-inchers.

Who gets packaging wrong?

Even the amateurs I swap with and e-bay buys I make are wrapped right.

EPE is supposed to be "incorporated."

Got it

Wed Aug 31, 2005 7:41 pm

I just ordered Flashback from shopelvis. It cost me 64.99 and they have free ground shipping so I am paying for the cost of the book only. The person who helped me knew exactly what I wanted and the transaction took a few minutes. I should have it next week.

Wed Aug 31, 2005 8:24 pm

I think today is the last day for that free shipping, isn't it, folks?

I think I may get a few things, too.

And try my luck...

I ordered Flashback and Rocking Across Texas too take advantage of the free shipping deal... glad I did these FTDs are fantastic!

Way to go, John!

Today, allegedly the last day for free shipping, I ordered a book/CD
as well.

I almost sprung for the others I missed, but I'll bide my time.

I did some comparisons with other on-line sites (used and new):
it's dispiriting how much some of these FTDs are going for !

$40 and more for single discs?

EPE has to make all of these readily available for US fans.

There's still no TODAY, ALL SHOOK UP or TICKLE ME in stock.

But some of the soundtracks are starting to get pricey elsewhere,
as noted.

Like the book I ordered: way over a hundred bucks elsewhere!

What a joke. They need to print more of these FTDs or stop with the
profiteering. What I've been told is that the mark-up in the USA
is HUGE. It's what the market bears I guess, but I don't always
buy brand new copies as a result.

I'm visiting Graceland in October and plan on getting Rocking Across Texas and one of the four remaining FTD soundtracks I don't have at this point, probably Spinout. If anyone lives in the New York City area and would like me to bring them back something from Shop Elvis in Memphis, let me know. You can pay me back when we meet to exchange the item.

As I have noted several times, while FTDs are pricey, I have found the best price and most efficeint service comes from the guys here at FECC. Thanks to them, I have been enjoying Elvis Tody and All Shook for about a month now.

Thu Sep 01, 2005 4:50 pm

Thanks for the reminder, Mike , about FECC.

On one hand, I like EPE (it cost me 64 bucks (no tax or shipping cost, either) for the book/cd, but so many titles I want/ need are just gone:

POLK SALAD ANNIE, etc.

American fans shouldn't have to pay so much for these FTD's.

I suppose it's like people complaining about profiteering in the oil/gas
industry. Good luck fixing the free market.

Now here's a kick in the head... I have heard that the FTDs cost more at Graceland than they do at ShopElvis.

Jeff -

It is unbelievable... but true! I was there at the beginning of August, and wanted to stock up on missing titles...The books are the same price, but the other CDs are $5 more than on elvis.com! What a shock! :o

I don't know if this is because they changed company (or something like that) to prepare and keep inventory... Shipping, however, is cheaper now than it was before that change (to where I live, anyway).

Weird...

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I'll just be getting the Rocking Across Texas book. The movie titles I'll get through my usual supplier.

Like several others in this thread, I finally ordered Flashback this week. I received it last night and was pleasantly surprised to find a thick book consisting of a boatload of pictures. For some reason, I thought this was a CD-sized booklet of photos. A great surprise it was! Two shots immediately stuck in my mind:

1. on pg. 41, EP is apparently dictating something into a handheld mike/recording device. What is it?

2. The top photo on pg. 64 had me laughing out loud. Look it up & you'll see why!
