It is one of the worst examples of sloppy English in my opinion (which is highly significant - in my opinion).

What would they have done? Demanded he shape up to play some million dollar overseas gigs for which he'd collect only 25%? Told Parker where to stick his back invoices? Gotten him a mob manager to skim some off in side deals? Made Elvis play Vegas on the cheap and stay on him to upgrade his show so the crowds kept rolling in?
